Hey GFIW,
It sounds like you all enjoy the road through GFI adventures. Here is an idea you might want to try. When I first went on the road my kids were very young. They were curious as to where I was each night/day. We bought a large wall map and each day that I would call mom, I would tell her where I was. She would give one of our kids a color tack/pin and they would try to find the city I was in. We had one color that reresented our home and then they would try to calculate how many miles from home I was. They learned alot about our country, how to read a map etc. It was lots of fun for them.
Just a thought!

GFIW... I just run local now, so the miles don't matter. Get paid by the hour. Sometimes I would like to be back on the road again.
I have hauled lumber out of the weyerehaeuser in Cottage Grove before, and hauled logs into other weyerehaeuser locations in Oregon.

What is Weyerhaeuser? Is it more or less a lumber supply place. On the web-site it was difficult to tell exactly what they are.

What time of year did you work for May Trucking?

I wish the best for you whether you stay where you are or go back on road.

Weyerhaeuser is a MAJOR lumber mill/plywood mill/paper mill/particle board manufacturer.

Cottage Grove is a lumber mill. Springfield is a paper mill.

GFIW. I worked for May during the winter '98 - '99. Freight is generally slower that time of year. I also upset the OSL since my truck being in the shop for being way over due for scheduled maintenance was not a good enough excuse to not accept a load. Nor the fact the the Qualcomm did not transmit inside the shop and no one would answer the phone. This happened my first full week with the company. I spent most of that week sitting in Seattle.

Sorry you had such a bad experience with May. We are happy at Davis, it is more of a family type place so I don't think that type of thing will happen there. I do know a few other people had problems with an OSL at May but my husband had no problems with her. Did your OSL's name at May begin with an L ? Just wondering if it was the same one!

My husband made his drop Tuesday. He said that he was at the Menards distribution center and it was huge. After he delivered his load he received a pick up at three different places in Menards to take to a store in Iowa City only 300 miles away. He delivered 20 minutes before they stop taking shipments around 8:40 last night.

This morning he was told that he would be able to pick up a load in Assumption Illinois in the morning he drove approximately 270 miles and is ready to pick up his next load....well almost. His starter went out on his truck and the truckstop he was going to spend the night at. They were fixing it the last time I spoke with my husband, hopefully the truck is working again.

This load will be going to Valier, Montana this trip is approximately 1900 miles.

I have the rug doctor and have been busy, between that and baking three dozen cookies for my sons school!
