NC Trucker
My CDL school runs June 10-August 13 (weekends due to current career), then a two week notice, then hopefully to TMC training the first week in September. I have a verbal pre-hire, but am waiting on something official. I'm from Catawba County...any reason you choose to go to Des Moines instead of Columbia for training?

dont fool yourself young drivers i can tell u for sure i've been told to go ahead and deliver my right after i got an overweight ticket
so don't think that everyone are saints in trucking business and thats happened on more than one occasion for instance i picked up a load and weighed 79900 then was issued a trainee after that i called safety they said if i had any problems with scale houses let me know they would take care of it i've never taken a load overweight with out calling first and yes i've been asked well can u still get it there its happened to tcurr also because he called me on what to do and he to called safety they were giving him routing and he said he already got it from his trainer he was told to use his routing because its probably better than what he give him as far as running legal that cant monitor all the trucks correct but lets get on a level playing field i've drove 800 miles or better before and no one said anything and then i've drove 500 before and been told to pull over and that wasnt all in the same week either as far as training i removed myself from the training program this week with the new changes that tmc is suppose to making i need to see if financially its feesable to be here and to make sure i can do certain miles and loads per day by myself before i start to train under what they want because i dont feel comfortable telling a trainee that yes u can deliver a 523 mile load in a day because i cant ask or tell someone to do something or that u can do something without first doing it by myself but make no mistake about it if we are going to run perfectly legal u might want to switch to the long haul division and stay out to make up the difference in freight loss but i will try this on my own for the summer to see how its going to work right now its not going to well the price of loads that u get are going down because u cant run the miles so in turn whats the end can u say pay cut i've lost one trainee because of the fright prices he took a better paying job am i mad because he left yes not because he left because he found the job before me hahahahaha i've got a trainee that switched to long haul to make up the difference that he's lost and yeah he's looking and keeping score (pay check) and if its not feesable then he's gotta go i've talked to other experienced drivers and trainers at tmc and they to say they will stick until it affects their check and home time then they gotta go as far as the weblog all i can say is that tmc is the destruction of their own creation shut it off and let the log books speak for itself and there wont be any lawsuits because the log book is a legal binding document just like goldiesplating said they got pulled over for the time they spent driving try this one me and my trainee this week did over 5600 miles and never received a call and to add injury to insult i was told that my trainee needed more miles even though he was going to get his 10000 in anyway but enough said sorry it was long but theres alot more to be said but this is just the tip of the iceburg if tcurr is on here this weekend ask him how its going that conversation is worth a phone call but each to his and some off this is opinion and some is fact but i'm still trucking for now 10/4 over and out

Joker,
You said you got an overweight ticket. Who paid for it? The ticket was yours right. It's on your record. When they tell you to run overweight, couldn't you have politely said NO? I'm sure there is this balancing act of trying to run legal and still make money. Are you saying you wouldn't make money running LEGAL? I'm not saying that you can't be creative, but if the company asks for you to do something blatant, then shouldn't you speak up? If another driver continuously said that he was absolutely going to run by the book would they still push him, or would he starve or be let go. Sounds like you might of had a few bad weeks!!!

I was in Des Moines on Monday the 22nd for orientation. I was not impressed. First off my recruiter lied to me about how long I was to be with a trainer. Second the orientation instructor, IMHO, was rude and very unprofessional in the fact that he used very foul language in the classroom, directed to the potential drivers. Im not sure if he thought that since he was in a room full of experienced truckers that it was ok to use foul language or what, but I just found it very unprofessional. I figured if that was a model of how the company runs, I dont want to be a part of it. Left Monday night. Again, this is just my opinion based on my experience in Des Moines. TMC might work for some people, just not me.

Hey all.
Freight has changed I think due to more people running legal. I also think they have lost some accounts due to freight not getting there next day. THis is pure specualation on my part but areas that were a given to get certain freight no longer have any loads available when empty. Here is the number one problem since this all started, The loaqd coordinators are not watching to see if the load is deliverable. And yes I have matched the weblog to a t for over a month now. My income to truck has been hovering around 3200. This week SUCKED. They gasve me a load that had to be delivered by noon the following day with a 13 hour drive at 3 o clock in afternoon with 5 hours left in my 14 hour rule. After raising holy hell they came up with that it was just the only load available which meant I had a 350 average to the truck. After basically working a completely screwed up week I had to back log 2 hours to get home friday or spend the night 2 hours from the house. Frankly its this simple I am doing my part they damn well better do theres or I will be hauling frieght for someone else. I completely agree with running by the book. YOUR ass is on the line if it doesnt match the weblog, but I* also EXPECT them to do there job in freight selection to make sure I can dliver 5 loads and make the money I need to make. Frankly if you cannot make 3500 to truck legal why would you even haul flatbed, tarp strap get filthy day after day for the same pay as opening two doors? 2 nights this week I had to spend the night at the shipper cause I ran out of hours when I got there. \ Also had tqm this weekend. There loads got me there Saturday morning and my 34 reset I could not leave out tell sunday night at 7pm which screwed my whole week. They had a month to plan to get me there which they failed miserably at. Like I said they better get there sheet together soon cause there are 3 other offers on the table at this point. Are they a good company, definatly but right now the left isnt talking to the right and the drivers are the ones taking in the rear. |
