ok.... Now on the update that's left...

We left off on tuesday, b/c wednesday we had security class basicly all day. We had tests, video-tests, some more papaer to fill out, and finally in the afternoon we had a safety guy come in, and explain a few things, and looked at accident, that were driver failure (mostly b/c someone was sleeping behind the wheel) and man let me tell ya... It's no fun.

The pictures did not include blood, or gore, so no worried there, but come to think of it, would you wanna be one of them drivers that kills himself for $300 (that's the load one guy was carrying. That;s how much it would have payd him) and leave a 27 year old widow with two kids behind... Only for $300.

So all of us were in shock, so that's ?Y i didn't come up hgere, to update ion the process...

Thursday:

We had to watch some videos about equipment, (supersingles) and some people came in to explain the payscale, benefits, insurance, and tuition reimbursement to us. Was a rather uneventful day (besides having to sign a crapload of paperwork)

I'll update you guys on load securement later on... I'm off to the hot tub for now, and we'll talk later...

Any Q's? Shoot, and i;ll answer.

Cheers

BND

This Duces trainer (Blackpearl). The reason for jumping up on the side of the trailer is to simulate jumping or pulling yourself up on some of the loads that we have out there. They also do this so he can see if you know how to dismount the trailer properly so noone gets hurt. Also while you are on the trailer they want to make sure that you can pick a steel tarp up and put it up on bertha. If you cannot do this then maybe you have a problem and should not be working for TMC.So I agree with you Fred.

P.S. BND things are great with my trainer we have gone from DSM. to Ghet KY. to Summerville SC. to Pendergrass GA. to Summerville SC. to Milton NH. to Orlando FL. to lerado TX. to L.A. CA. and now we are rolling 65 on our way to Hays KS. Good luck with the rest of your bootcamp training and if you can try and leave DSM with your trainer do it.

We think your handle needs improvement.

Like BND says, you need boots for the load securement part. They don't have to be steel toe but make sure they come up over your ankle and lace up with good traction on the bottom.

Motman,

Where do you find a job like that -- home every night, with little driving experience?

The Arrow rumor has been around for a while. Any buyout means that the company has to deal with the crappy equipment that comes along with it. Like the PFT trailers for example. When I was in DSM they were stacking them up for sale (Mexico I hope) or for the scrap heap.
It was interesting to see some APU's being installed on trucks. I guess as a test thing.

Well. I'm off to TMC for the second time. Hopefully, everthing will go my way this time. It's going to be a long drive straight through, I should arrive early Sunday morining, giving a full day of rest on Sunday. Wish me luck.

Glad to hear you have an opportunity Motman. Too bad TMC didn't work out for you. Back problems are nothing to fool around with.

The reason that Motman can get a gig like that is that he lives in a good area, within easy running distance from Boston, Hartford, and NYC. I prefer the open road thanks. :P

I am currently in Des Moines. We leave out tomorrow on a 7 stop fire hydrant run , OH, NY, CT, MA  Should be fun. We had a 5 stop plastic pipe run this week.
