I'm good to go on Monday. I have to Rebecca on Thursday to confirm and so she will make hotel reservations for me. I can't wait, well I have to, but I don't want to wait. I just bought a digital camera. I'll try to keep a picture diary of my adventure. I'll send you all the test answers, no guarantee they will be correct though, except for the piss test, it will be correct.

Ok, ok guys... lol... we just watched Borat with my roommate...

Today was a rather interesting day. We learned about the Qualcomm system, and macros... We also had a video Test, on how defensive and catious we are. That was boring... The best part of the day was, that some of us, including me, got to go on the 13 speed gearbox simulators...Imagine a Peterbuilt cab, seat, shifter, all the bells whistles, and 3 40" plasma screens... it even grinds the gears like it does in the real truck... I asked if i could take pics of the setup., and i was allowed, but didn't have the camera with me, so i'll take some pics tomorrow... 8)

Besides that, we got a video or two on highway safety, that so and so many trucks are stolen, etc...

Anyways, i'll update tomorrow, and have some extra pix up

Cheers

BND

Hey von... Please call me, or PM me... I wan't you as my trainer... THX

You'd better practice lifting yourself onto the deck of the trailer from the side. You get to grab the handrail but nothing else but you can get up by pulling yourself up like a snake. The thinner guys can just throw their leg up but at 287 you may have a little trouble, depending on the shape you're in and whether the weight is muscle or fat. This test is done in securement, probably the same day you will do the tarp carry to the top of the high load. Good luck.

It depends on how tall you are too! The vertically challenged guys had more problems than anyone, and only one guy couldn''t make it up from the side. You will not have to carry a tarp on top of the high load in securement class. TMC has stopped doing that for safety reasons. All you have to do now is climb up the load, walk to an area near the rear, and look over the side down at the instructor. Piece of cake for those not afraid of heights.

Seems they should drop the trailer-climbing stuff too. Easiest ways to climb a trailer are from the back: step on the ICC bumper and climb up, or climb up the steps of your tractor and onto the front. If you need to climb from the side, it ain't worth it!

Sounds good they got rid of the tarp-climbing test. I didn't have any trouble with it myself, but it is dangerous. And no one in the real world would do that anyway. Granted, there are dangerous situations out here, but if you use your head, you can often come up with better solutions than just the obvious.

Just called TMC recruiting and was told that since I have no flatbed exp I would have to go with a trainer for 5 weeks @ $500/wk and then I would either get .36cpm or 23% for the first year and then the % would go up to 26%. What happened to the "make full pay in a month" thingy? I have been driving otr for 3.5 years but no flatbed so I have to be with a trainer for 5 weeks! Also, since I live 35 miles north of I-96 in Michigan I wouldn't get home but every 2 weeks. Guess TMC isn't for me.
