The 2 that have been $500 net are from a hometime week where he was home 5 days. This time he got home after 2 weeks, although its usually 3. At 3 weeks out, no truck break downs he averages $800-900 net. He had a really bad week with his truck breaking down, and then they decided to move him to a different truck, so he had several days of downtime then, and he's been home again now since Sunday, so we expect several more small checks before they get large again.

As far as the issue of him being gone we don't have a lot of trouble with it. All of us (me and the 3 children) all talk to him a LOT while he is gone, makes it a lot easier. We are not a dual income house (well..not technically, I make small amounts in a home business but he is the main support), and $500 a week is a TON better than we've ever seen, and those are the smallest we've ever seen except one time a while back now where he forgot to turn in a bunch of trip envelopes so it got delayed. The next check was sure nice though! Maybe when I get a chance I'll dig all of his paystubs out of the filebox and post exact mileage and amount.

You see though..to us the money he is making now more than double pays our monthly bills, and is giving us a great chance to catch up on old debt. I know to a lot of people 35-40K isn't much..but to us its rolling in the money and worth the small sacrifice of having him gone more.

He heads back out tomorrow morning and will stay out at least 3 1/2 weeks this time by our choice. We don't know yet where he'll be going.

madii'swife,

Know this is silly, but when you say he is netting $800-900 at 3 weeks out, you mean that he is netting that much per week correct?

Yes, indeed, :? I always seem to say something a bit off in here  Normally he nets $780-890 or so net EACH week

Sure I have a somewhat reliable source for good cheap books (and by cheap I mean averaging 3-15 cents per book) so part of what I do is buy used books and sell them on eBay. I also sell whatever won't sell on eBay to several local bookstores.
The other "main" thing I do is work for a newer search engine called Chacha. I work as a "guide" and act as a live interaction with the searchers.
I also have my hands in several other smaller pots of online income generating things but haven't had a whole lot of time to work them. If you want to know more about any of it feel free to pm me.

Thanks for the support, you and just about everybody here have been wonderful. I wasn't exactly sure where you were coming from with your original post, and I have a tendency to over elaborate, as true intentions are hard to decipher on the internet.
I know that OTR isn't for everybody, and I'm glad you have 2 sweet girls that are worth you being home more!

My husband is in Gulfport, MS tonight. He delivers in Arcadia, FL Sunday morning so he's making good time and enjoying a south run in territory he hasn't seen yet. He picked up this load in Plainview yesterday morning. He continues to get really good runs and good mileage. At this point we are planning on staying with TransAm through the end of this year, and will only be changing to get something to have him home more without losing to miles to be home.

Thanks again Jackrabbit! Hope things are going well for you as well. I keep telling him I bet he runs the same roads with you sometimes, as he sees Lubbock a LOT coming out and coming to his hometime, and it quite often seems to be at 12 or 1 am.
