My first drive(after 11 years) went very well today. It was really like riding a bicycle again; What was I fretting about? I drove 125 miles in 3 1/2 hours up ID41 to Priest River, stopped at Laclede on US2 for a short break, into Sandpoint, and down US95 into CDA. This is a good training route with plenty of small town 35 mph and 25 mph school zones, a couple short downgrades, some sweeping curves, and couple 90 degree turns. I was marked down for overreving on my downshifts and having a little difficult finding the right amount of brake application(air brake lag was getting me). My right turns were near perfect. I was cutting my left turns short and not using the available space.

I have another drive at 6am on Tuesday. I think we are going into Spokane for some city work. Wednesday or Friday I would like to run up 4th of July Pass for my mountain driving. Thursday is the range(eg. backing). Will decide what the other drive(Wed or Fri) will be.

I am very happy today!!

Are you coming down to Sage for lunch?

Thank you danske for the update. I am glad it all went well for you and I hope that all went well today in Spokane. Boy is that sure a one way street city! I will NEVER forget the first time I went down a one way street when I was 16   I was only going one way just the wrong one!

Thursday would be a good day since you will be on the range! Does that work for you?

My husband picked up a load in Kingston, Arizona today. I guess this trailer has a gauge on it and when he was loaded he said he thought he was over so he did not even bother to tarp before he went down to scale out. He said sure enough he was 1,000 lbs over on his back axle....so it was back to the shippers to have the load readjusted.

He will drop this load tomorrow around the Sacramento area. The total trip will be somewhere around 800 miles.

My son left for his trip today! All the kids in his class were very excited to leave. He will be celebrating his birthday this year in Williamsburg on the 25th.

And yes I already miss him

GFIW,

Thursday will be fine. When I am not driving or in the classroom(This week's classroom instruction is optional for me), I am watching the other students drive the range. One student was doing near perfect after only one demonstration ride with the instructor. So he set a high bar for me on Thursday.

My route today was the following as near as I can remember:

http://maps.google.com/maps?f=d&hl=en&geocode=813194798629346793,47.74575 9,-117.019351%3B5257695343576294428,47.680876,-117.283173%3B194294126528185025,47.722004,-117.284203%3B14961369971780607518,47.715075,-117.411575%3B7149998743722653330,47.651744,-117.406425%3B9896741803949028590,47.655213,-117.295876%3B8841073825381919370,47.657294,-117.240257%3B17519995460543094298,47.450844,-117.136917%3B848558928173853026,47.427855,-116.986885%3B16017744402972344864,47.687810,-116.797371&saddr=2845+W.+Seltice+Way,+coeur+d'alen e,+id&daddr=rathdrum,+id+to:ID-53+%4047.745510,+-117.019110+to:E+Trent+Ave%2FWA-290+%4047.681020,+-117.282720+to:N+Argonne+Rd+%4047.721730,+-117.283120+to:E+Francis+Ave+%4047.715080,+-117.411120+to:E+4th+Ave+%4047.652100,+-117.408090+to:Appleway+Blvd+%4047.654920,+-117.295780+to:N+Pines+Rd%2FWA-27+%4047.658240,+-117.239790+to:W+Emma+St+%4047.451880,+-117.137900+to:ID-58+%4047.427390,+-116.986490+to:US-95+%4047.686960,+-116.796960+to:47.700809,-116.821833&mrcr=11&mrsp=12&sz=14&mra=mi&sll=47.699 249,-116.821747&sspn=0.02507,0.048923&ie=UTF8&ll=47.615 421,-117.089539&spn=0.401772,0.782776&z=10&om=1

Need a little more practice on my 90 degree turns, so it is back to Spokane tomorrow. Friday I am going to 4th of July Pass, maybe as far as Lookout Pass and back for my mountain driving.

See you on Thursday.

Hi tootie,

My husband is in the Salt Lake City Utah area this evening. He is headed for New York. Davis came through with a great load it looks like the Western States are picking up somewhat.

Where are you guys? It would be cool if you could hook up!

Take Care,

Yesterday I had the pleasure of meeting Danske at Sage! Thank you again Danske for putting my son's new plates on his vehicle! Danske offered and had his tools out putting the plates on the vehicle almost as soon as pulled up.

I hope you also had a good evening at the lodge last night! And I hope you are feeling better now that your refresher course is done!

My husband is on a new load from Elk Grove,California to Chestertown, New York. This load is a straight drop not multiple. He is not coming through home this time he is on the I-80. But heck that is okay as he making money :P This trip is going to be 1,975 miles.

Devil Dice I now owe Pat some cookies, she told hubby yesterday  I told my husband sometime when he is home and heading back to the office I will have to send some to Missoula.

Hubby is due for a random drug test! So as soon as he is in a place that he can have that done he will. No problem though! Just hope it is an in and out type of thing.

Yesterday I forgot to mention when they loaded my husband in California he said he kept watching the gauges as he knew they were loading him way heavy. He mentioned it to the guy and was told that they wanted to put the full load on and then he could go scale out and they would take off what was necessary.

So he went to scale out and he was 9,000 lbs over  He did not understand why they did not at least try and keep it close to the limit.

So it did take him longer to get loaded and get it right which they did the second time.

Thank you for the cookies. I share some of them at Sage yesterday.

You should double check the mileage on GFI's latest load. I think it is more like 2900 miles.

Got to run this morning, so I don't have time to tell you about my trip to Saint Maries right now.

Later,
