It just isn't worth it, log it like you drive it! Tell the hubby to do whatever the trainer says until he is in his own truck... Then it is up to him to decide how he is going to run. It appears there is at least a few rogue trainers running around over at TMC that need to not be training any more or driving for that matter if their attitude is that it is perfectly OK to run illegal... Nobody should tolerate this nonsense! These people make it bad for everyone. BOL Longsnowsm

Long, your right and it's only a matter of time before those trainers get busted for it by DOT. TMC's drivers have been getting pulled a lot and are being hit with log violations like crazy. Only a matter of time before it catches those bad apples.

I will definitely be "bringing this up" to Todd in safety next week in Des Moines. Personally, if a trainer wants to bend or break the rules I believe this should be up to them, but to tell a new driver he has to do likewise is not only wrong, it's illegal, irresponsible and just plain wrong. Doing this probably scares away more drivers than a lot of other factors and with TMC trying their darndest to keep driver retention high, it's counter-productive. My trainer always encouraged me to run however I felt comfortable and stressd that how one driver runs, may or may not be for everyone. "Drive as best you can and don't let anyone, be it the truck behind you or your fleet manager in Des Moines, push you to try and exceed your limits." he'd always say. Thanks Sam, now I see what you meant.

the trick is to make money and stay safe. if you can do those 2 things everything should be alright.
yes fred i was asking what you will be doing in Des Moines for 2 weeks. i dont have a problem with what is said or what is discussed on any web board. but please watch what you say to some extent. the consiquences for some of us can be a serious pain in the a$$. especialy for those of us that already have jobs with any particular company. we have to deal with enough already. stirring up the pot can sometimes start trouble. even though it is unintentional. 8)

there seems to be a lot of negative posts crawling out from newb's and veteran drivers regarding safety & logging, load & income issues for the fore mentioned company. this is alarming to me. i came to this site for information and advice from experienced truckers. i have been hired and was scheduled to go to DSM but after reading this stuff I'm bagging it. Somebody shine a light on these matters. very disappointed. every one posting positive info must co-mingled with recruiting or they are becoming trainers and need to pad their own wallets.

Pappa, there are drivers who break the rules at any company, that doesn't mean that you have to do it too. Not to defend TMC but they can't babysit a driver and tell them when their HOS are up and that they need to go nite nite.
Just saying, don't think that all drivers are the same way by reading about a couple who do things wrong.
