What exactly does the term "prehire" entail.[/quote]
Well, I went back and did a search and I have answered my own question. Thank you Terry for all your help.

Prehires- Basically means that a company thinks they can get you hired based on what you put on your application. Now, not all prehires become hired. Let me give you an example, lets say that I have an app that looks good and when I start processing it and I find a DUI listed on the motor vehicle record I run but it wasn't listed on the application. I wouldn't be able to help them out because they falsified the application.
Things of that nature can ruin a prehire obviously but for the most part, people I prehire usually get hired on. Some companies do theirs different but for the most part it's all the same.

Ok, I run Tucson/Sierra Vista for Brown. I don't mean to interrupt this thread , but was just curious as to what TMC driver lives off of Hwy 90 in Whetstone, Az. and if they were on this board. Saw the tractor last week on my way to Sierra Vista and was just curious.....

When you get prehired at TMC that means you are a pulse for a while so that you can be checked out. They didn't seem to check people out ahead of time, pre-orientation. When you get to orientation you fill out another application and then they check your work history. If you didn't lie about felonies, jobs, or medical, you get to continue. Then you go take a physical and peepee test. People get washed out for medical problems and believe it or not, some jacka**es pee hot or come in hungover...tata! (Mmmm, drugs are bad.)
Good luck with the Corning trainer. Sorry I can't remember his name. Penn Yan is close to both Corning and Rochester so you won't have to drive a million miles.

We were wondering why we were filling out applications .......again at TMC.
No explanation is given. I think they want you to fill out the information again to compare it with what you already submitted and see if it was actually YOU who filled it out. I bet there is some people out there who "borrow" someone elses work history, kinda like peeking over the shoulder at someone elses test paper.

Actually, when you fill out the very first app, TMC will do the employment verifications, mvr, etc. before hand to make sure everything checks out. Not all companies do this before hand, a lot of them do this when you make it to orientation. Once you make it to orient. with TMC we have you fill out another one. This primarily is done to see if anything gets put on the second one that wasn't on the first, ex, dui's, felonies, accidents, etc. This could jeopardize employment with us because they weren't truthful about it not putting it on the first app.
So yes, you do fill out 2 apps total but like I said, we do all the work off the first one before you come out. The moral of the story is to always be truthful on what you put on apps because it may get caught down the road.

well if it was an older light blue T600, he is an owner operator. TMC uses double drops, RGN's and steps to pull John Deere and other equipment. we probably have lo-boys around somewhere. Originally Posted by mpwelsh007
