Great job on the defense CountryHorseman. And yes, there are still plenty of TMC trucks (mostly loaded) still rolling down I-80/94 here in Northwest Indiana everyday! I have not seen any slowdown in TMC trucks in this area or the Chicago area.

As was said, the economy is struggling. There are even heavy rumors spread within the company I am associated with (Caterpillar). Rumors that would diminish thousands of jobs. I still always take them with a grain of salt.

I know rumors spread easily, especially with the economic uncertainty of today. TMC is a strong company, and is experienced with these issues, im sure. The economy will definitely rebound, and so will everybody within it.

Best of luck to everyone and be safe!

"If there was any fact to the rumor there would be a maelstrom of posts about it...all over the place. No way that TMC could contain the facts of a true bankruptcy.

Doesnt anyone remember when Consolidated Freight, CF or Preston went under, I dont know anyone who didnt know that they were. If any major co declares, it will be all over every single trucking mag, etc. Also since Annett Holdings/TMC are a private company, they do not have any obligation to make the public aware of any finacial position, so does anyone think that the big shots would be openly talking about finances, whether good or bad? NO
Ill bet if you ask a TMC driver, they are still washing trucks every week, how much $$ does that make the company?
The TMC guys will certainly know when things are sour, because the daily grind will start changing like never before. Since nothing has really changed much, It would be safe to say that its business as normal.

Like Ive said before, Harold led the way into what TMC is today, I hardly doubt he is just gonna sit around and watch everything he has worked for go to the toilet, and since no major changes have taken place as far as drivers go, how could anything think that its going south, Obviously the big chief is content.

Some people never use a brain, I bet more people that talk about TMC declaring bankruptcy, will file before TMC/Annett does.

hi guys, sorry I didn't update sooner, no internet on the road.

http://www.tmctrainingcenters.com/de...raduating.html

^ bald guy in the Carhartt sweatshirt.

where to start... this company is HARDCORE but I kinda like it. last week's experienced class was a great group of guys, made orientation fun. by the second day Randy knew we saw through his tough guy act and before long we were swapping tasteless jokes with him.

I was out with a trainer since Sunday, my first load was 5 John Deere corn planters on a 53' trailer  my trainer just got put on John Deere, he's a little pissed because the rest of the week we bounced around with low paying short runs, spent a lot of time fighting with his fleet manager because they kept wanting to put 48,000lbs of lumber on a 53' behind an extended hood specialized truck, way overweight. got in tonight, probably leaving back out Sunday.

I wasn't quite sure what I was getting myself into, driving and load securement are no problem, having some problems climbing up on high loads to tarp or set edge protectors, a ladder would be real nice but I understand those are banned. a lot to learn in a short amount of time, I will stick it out though. glad I took the plunge, now the fun starts.

To Jerod or anyone that knows, I applied 2 days ago over the internet and it said someone would get back to me in 48 hrs. Just curious if any of you know how long it usually takes to get a response. I called yesterday and was told my application is being handeled in Florida, but when they tried to transfer me, no one picked up. So should I wait, or should I call Des Moines again. I really don't want them to think I'm a pest which is why I ask what you guy's think I should do.

Thanks for any info.

Why is a ladder banned? Company policy? Seems like a joke to me, a ladder would be the best way to get on top of a load instead of trying to climb up there and loosing your grip or footing and then falling all the way to the ground.

Pony, keep calling and bugging them about it no matter who the company is you want to drive for.

Not a problem, your just showing them that you really want to be a pat of their team by staying on top of them about what is going on if they aren't contacting you. Have to be proactive vs sittin their twittling your thumbs waiting for them. AKA, squeaky wheel gets the grease.

my trainer said it is a safety issue, like what if you fall off the ladder and no one is there. seems to me it would be easier to fall off a load of lumber trying to climb it without a ladder. makes no sense whatsoever. I made it on top of every load except a load of lumber which was stacked 2 bundles high about 5' off the deck with no foothold and no handhold to grab on to. I was told I'd have to figure out a way to get on top of it. said they have to climb up over the top of the cab and jump on the load to tarp a load of hay. this part isn't real appealing. some of the things we did were not at all safe, only thing that concerns me. I tarped a 5' tall load of plywood no problem because it was safe to climb up on. ran into some problems trying to tarp a load of metal conduit because it was unsafe to walk on.

I hear there is an Alcoa dedicated run with conestoga wagons that is sounding real appealing right about now

Uh yeah, that is a bad deal with safety right there. A ladder is better and safer than trying to play mountain climber unless you are hooked into some sort of harness system. I would be letting someone in safety know and getting a clarification from them on TMC's official stance. Could be that your trainer is just being a punk. Falling off a ladder, you can usually land on your feet, falling while trying to climb up with no ladder, no telling how you might land. Using the truck cab as a launching pad, stupid, stupid, stupid. Get in touch with safety when your alone and can discuss it.
