well lets see yeah since this new thing that tmc is throwing out there
yeah its cut freight a good bit

letssee i had a trainee in his 4th week he barely got over a 1000 miles truck only made 2997 with two guys that should have been running teams
week 5 with trainee again a little over 1000 miles with trainee truck made 3051 with two guys again running as team week six started off slow again until they seen that oh wait his trainee should get more miles than that so here we was pushed to take some loads that from wed. morning to friday night at about 5pm we ran non stop except to unload and reload and thats with both of us driving not just the trainee thats me driving also

as far as speaking up to safety in those situations dont forget for here at tmc safety calls more shots than anyone so yeah its like walking on eggshells when it comes to what u say and who u say it to trust me safety has more power than u can imagine

as far as running legal and making money it can done all except for when u pick up a load that pays about 760 dollars u get unloaded mind u drive in an hour before u unload and then get unloaded then set till about 1230 then get bounced about 128 miles then set to get loaded and then u scale because u think your overweight and come to find out u are

so then u set because your overweight and u gotta go back in the morning to get it fixed and then deliver the next day and still cant get there because its over 11 hours driving so u gotta get 10 break in there

so u get there at 1030 takes till 1230 to get unloaded and then they want to know what took so long getting there

even if u were not overweight u still couldn't have made that delivery the next day because u had to be there by 2pm and your drive time would have expired plus u had to go through chicago rush hour so no not happening but on the bright side u still delivered safely withe about a little over 350 dollar daily average yeah thats impressive at 32% thats about 112 dollars so yeah i could see where u might starve

did this happen to me no but it did happen to tcurr and i ran the trip myself for him and if everything went right he would have been still 15minutes late which meant he still would have to set at the consignee overnight

i've ran the figures if u get unloaded with a fresh 11 and dispatched quick run the bounce get loaded quick and then drive u might be able to handle 500 miles and thats pushing it because me and my dispatcher discussed it and he said thats pushing it so there again less miles means cheaper freight more often than not

by the way they paid my overweight and we revued my route and they said i should be fine of course i had to run all turnpikes to avoid scales but my out of route miles were covered so yeah pretty much its a dont ask dont tell method just deliver but on the other hand there promoting safety on the other hand with there fingers crossed but they paid for the ticket so it didnt affect my check and if it would have then that would have been another issue

and theres other stories of mine and other drivers of whats expected and whats done and i've discussed training with higher ups in safety not mentioning any names but yeah they have stated we want u to bend the rules andmake the trainees productive drivers but thats another story

but im still here

as far as

you know the whole way that the company is running now is sort of crazy. 3 weeks ago i was shut down by the comp. 2 weeks ago i ran COMPLETELY legal and pitched a fit when the freight was gone to get me home for the weekend.
this week i told them that i was out of hours when i delivered and was told that i was the only truck in the area and had to drive 90 miles up to pick up this load that had to be picked up by 1900.

i have been using another FM and i love not talking to anyone, just sending in empties and getting reloads within 30 minutes. usually before i leave the receiver. but i have noticed that my 600-700 mile loads are now 2 day deliveries, but MY freight prices are doing pretty good. they actually have gone up some. truck is now averaging $889 where earlier it was at $818.
just my experience in the last few weeks. but i have been getting second looks from the highway patrol lately so i guess that the companies safety rating is about to catch up with us drivers.

It looks to me by what you posted, you showed up at T.M.C. Orientation half hearted and half assed about the whole thing, that's just my opinion..

But you will be okay, I believe McDonalds is still looking for help, you can cook hamburgers and put together happy meals can't you?

the new thing is trying to match the web log to the T which wouldn't be a problem except as the company will state

the weblog is not completely accurrate its put almost 40 miles behind than where i was actually at on the highway

and sometimes when u round up the weblog rounds down and vice versa

so yeah its new because u as the driver are left to figure out what u can do and what u cant do i've known drivers that have sleeping and safety call them and tell them to stop driving yeah it happens ask tcurr it happened to him

like i said before let the paper logs speak for themselves and there wont be any inconsistencies

Ok I feel the NEED to jump in here and before I piss ANYONE off, the following is just my OPINION and EXPERIENCE so far. While with my trainer, the truck made EXCELLENT money. Usually over $4000.00/week. We only waited TWICE in 6 weeks for a reload and then it was only 2 hours one time and four the next. Other than that we had a reload within 1/2 hour of being empty. We drove legal as solo's the first 4-5 weeks and as team statust the final week or two and didn't violate any log or overweight rules. When overweight ONE TIME we simply demanded the shipper remove a bundle and they did. We were backed by TMC's safety department too. Even when safety stopped us one time for running too hard (according to them) it was only because they didn't realize we were running team. The instructors in orientation are EXTREMELY professional and do NOT use foul language THAT comment above is pure B.S. in my opinion. Since you don't WORK for TMC anymore why not PM me his NAME to verify your claim of unprofessional language? Seems like another TMC thread is going south simply because it has run too long and too many disgruntled or disillusioned newbies or new hires are weighing in here. As you see Tcurr and Joker REMAIN employed at TMC and are probably just having a bad run right now which can happed to ANYONE at ANY company. I know Tcurr and respect both him and Joker and I'm pretty sure things will turn around for them. They are BOTH professional drivers and have earned the RIGHT to bitch about a job they know WELL. As newbies, DON'T freak out when reading bad posts. EVERY company has their days lol. TRUELY bad posts run for WEEKS and are about much worse companies than TMC. I am VERY confident I've made a good choice to drive for them.
People on this site (CAD) kill me. They bitch when a company "MAKES" you run illegal and they bitch when a company "MAKES" you run legal. There is NO pleasing EVERYONE but please keep in mind that a pissed off person or employee will tell EVERYONE while a happy one will tell few or no-one. These comments are NOT directed at Tcurr or Joker but rather the majority of posters elsewhere on this site. Tcurr and Joker ARE a little pissed at income right now but REMAIN w/TMC because (I believe) they know it will turn around.

LOOK AT THE BIG PICTURE and NOT one day or week.

Not sure I said EVERYTHING I want to say here but look forward to the usual "heated debate" to follow. Let's just keep it clean so we're not locked out.

Ow I agree golds running legal is the right way to run, they just need to iron out alot of stuff because i would say 80 percent were not.

one thing i know they are doing are working on preassigned loads which i think will make a huge difference in down time.

You always have the good with the bad my biggest problem right now with anyone is the load coordinators they are not coordinating they are just sending out a load to get you off there board.

one other thing when you ran with your trainer did he run the bounce etc? Because its imposible to do a 150 mile bounce or 100 and do more then 400 mile load and there are a whole lot of 600 mile runs that pay 800-1000 those in two days do not pay your bills.

It takes you a minimum of an hour to unload 1.5 average bounce and 2 to 3 to load thats 6.5 hours out of 14 at 60 miles and hour average which is stretching it thats 450 mile load.

I see people pulling in a place empty that i just delievered I think if they get there shit together and load you closer and preassign loads etc you will be able to build back up to close to 4k a week.

Some of it is just the business and luck of the draw as well, you will have the bad weeks with the good. But overall right now its not very smooth. Will it be? Will have to or they wont be in business cause there is to much competition out there.

There is alot of 600-700 mile frieght that is considered next day and must be delivered next day and I assure you that you can not do that solo. SO they have lost some shippers for that reason some stuff cant wait two days.

Are they doing the right thing, definately, but lets face it I am not doing this job for 37k a year. Nor are many others so they do need to become much more efficient. Also remember they knew all those folks were running illegal and did nothing about for a damn long time so its definately gonna cause a bunch of ripples.

Frankly half of the drivers I talk to on the road say they will quit half are happy, but like i said in the end they need to become much more efficient.
