Why don't you just bite the bullet and buy a real APU? I've had mine for almost a year now and have 2,000 hours on it. At $4.50 per gallon and 1 gallon per hour to idle your truck that's $9,000 in fuel already that it would have cost me. My Rigmaster cost me $7,900 installed. With the addition of a Carrier A/C unit you can add another $500 to that and I'll be in polar bear heaven when it's over 100 degrees outside and the best thing about all this is I can sleep at night without the fear OF A FIRE!!!

Granted, I would not have idled my truck that much. You tend to use the APU much more when you have one but by the end of this year it will have definitely paid for itself and it's all gravy from that point on.

Because an APU is nothing more than a glorified version of what I am already doing, with an extra price tag to boot. I can get a really nice water cooled 6000 watt generator for under $3500, at which point I'll have a complete working system, and I still won't have paid nearly what you paid for yours a year ago.

I prefer the simplicity of a diesel genset instead of a full blown APU also. I'll post some pic's of mine tonight, I finally have it running nice.

I found this while goofing around the World Wide Web, I have no idea if it's worth the money but thought you'd be interested Rev.

Nice, but far too large for the space I have.

Gosh, Heavy Duty, I was thinking the same thing! As the fuel began to soar, I heard numerous O/O's mention they had thoughts of finding creative ways to get rid of their trucks.. We might've been reading a different story had Rev been parked beside one of them! I can just see some guy come up behind Rev with a can of hairspray to really get that fire going  well, actually, that is sad...

Before that.. I was wondering if that truck fire in Rev's avatar was the *real* fire he was talking about.. if it were, I was going to say Thank heavens he was OUT of the truck when it started! A truck in flames like that one is a *scary* thing - LOTS of paperwork and enforcement types and just a LOT of attention from "outsiders" LOL -

But I'm glad it's not your truck Rev, but on the other hand - it was someone's truck

Wondering what your next move is? You mentioned Marine APU's. That's what Rigmaster uses, a Perkins water cooled with radiator. I've been around boats most of my life and most now days use a radiator and not the ocean water for many reasons. Salt water is corrosive but the most major problem is plastic being sucked up!!!
