From desk to own authority part 4

Just for extra protection to keep the moisture out, I always filled the connector with silicone before putting the wire in and crimping. Just gives a little more protection from the elements. Slide the heat shrink tubing over the connection, apply heat and you are G2G.
I hate chasing electrical gremlins!

You still need to put some heat shrink tubing over it. You'll be fixing it again if you don't. I'll tell you what I tell some homeowners "Put the tape down and back away slowly"

Yep, electrical tape won't last long if exposed to the elements. Hey, I think Paris uses 2 of those things as little hats for her ..........nope, wrong color

http://www.doityourself.com/invt/u599806 Use the crimp connectors with heat shrink tubing over them as was stated before.

:dung: Steve, are ya trying to burn that truck down :!: :?: :!:
I don't know what kind of a connector you think is good, but I've never seen that anywhere. Espcially not in electrical class in college. If your just capping a wire end. Loop the wire and shrinkwrap the end to itself. Your working with 12 volt electricity. Where any resistance can put excess amps in your system, like adding more lights, to the same switch. Not having a soldered connection, raises the resistance of the line, making that connection you have produce heat, and a dimmer light.

This is where experience comes into play.... If you want the most trouble free wiring on a vehicle, use "boat wire" as it is pre tinned usually... Solder all connections, shrink wrap etc. Pay real close attention to amp ratings of the wire you use. Get a good multi-meter (Fluke is good) and learn how to use it. Good for tracking semi-shorts. (high resistance) Never use Zip-cord on vehicles.......... Time for a nap......

why do you guys care? why do you offer suggestions?
Steve has repeatedly said he doesn't want or need your help or suggestions, let it go as he told one member he is smarter than him and I suspect he thinks the same of you. :?
