yeah, you can get away with that on a spread...but on a regular dual sliding tandem setup you would be right.

I once got a ticket for 1100 pounds over on the drivers, but my gross was 87xxx, so that was fine.

13,200
34,000
-----------
or 46,000 total

and

42,500 were the max allowable groups.

0 00 000

Kind of like that if looking at the left side of the truck.

WRONG!!

We were in VA and the truck was 1800lbs overweight. The dot man gave the ticket smiled and said have a nice day!!

This was the load of live fish we took up to NY as a favor for a friend of ours who owns a tow truck co. The guys truck broke down so our friend towed the truck and we took the trailer to NY. The owner of the trailer paid to overweight fine.

Now I know you've come to the game late, but some quick reading would show you that others have said that it varies depending upon the state.

You can be legal on ALL your axels and still be over GROSS with a spread.

12,000 steers, 34,000 drives and 20,000 EACH axel on trailer.

that can total 86,000

So when you are rolling over the scales if your axles are legal and they dont add them up.....well you see what i mean.
