People,don't stress yourselves out over Rev. He's got his opinion on things as does everyone else. If 95% of the people like what Steve's writing so what?
Rev may have a point as to things he doesn't see. (Meaning Steve's deadhead). It's just the manner that he presents himself. I don't see any numbers or deadhead miles from many other people. Must be it's just pick on Steve.
I don't think it's anybody's darn business as to what a person makes or runs for. I told Steve I wouldn't go into details if I was him. Merrick on the other hand is laying his cards on the table and asking for help.
Even one of the guys who knocks on Steve is quite helpful to Merrick. Quite impressed with that.
No one is going to change anyone so let them be. They don't bother anyone.
Actually Rev gave me some valuable information when I asked him.

You know I am pretty open about most things. I lay things on the table because of the information I always get back. There were two people in my life, my brother and my sister-in-law (wife's sister) who were neurotic about discussing anything to do with their finances. Me and the wifes sister actually didn't even get along cause she didn't like me asking her questions and I saw she was doing things foolishly. In the end now I handle all her finances and actually she now relies on me too much. And I have helped out my brother quite a bit. And I don't just mean money wise. Information is the key in life and as we all can't know everything, listening to others experiences and information is a plus. (of course it is wise to verify everything)

I am in competition with nobody but myself in life, I am not jealous of anything that another person earns or even obtains by luck. Nobody owes me anything and I don't owe anybody anything.

Look at Rank, putting out his numbers, if you look at them as a metric on how you can improve then you are better off; if you look at them as "Rank has or his company has x amount of $" and if he didn't have his own headhaul he would't be doing as well (with the implication that they are somewhat lucky to be having a headhaul and you are not) well then you are doomed to misery.

So says I anyway.

 

Merrick, I hope you didn't take that wrong. I meant it as a positive thing, a different approach. When you're new at what you're doing and have all the resources available such as these guys on here, I'd certainly be asking for as much help as I could also. And I'd need it too.

Very well put. The only thing I would disagree with is that Steve chose to put some of his numbers out there. Those of us who aren't on the cheerleading squad chose to question those numbers - specifically the ones he wasn't putting out there. If he chooses to continue to post here, then personally, I'll continue to question his postings. That's what a message board is for.

As far as the way I present myself, I've always said I'm blunt and to-the-point, and will not apologize for it.
