Hey DD, I posted a question in Rules and Regulations today. While I was writing my post, I was thinking about the training we received at Davis Transport on load securement from the yard supervisor(I won't call him YN like we used to :-) ).

Do you remember the practical test we had to take at the end of training with the simulated palletized coil? We had to place fiction mats down, buildup a cradle, run straps over the coil, and place "seat-belt" straps. I don't know how long it took you, but I was really slow. Since then, did you ever secure a coil with all that gear? I have had a couple palletized coil loads, thou my coils were much smaller(eg. 8000 lbs vs. the simulated 40-45,00 lbs coil). I felt comfortable with my securement, but I never went all out like that.

long time "no see".....and yeah i remeber that training however i never did secure a coil like that. heck i don't even haul coils anymore.....gotten spoiled rotten here at LS and haul light loads .....lol

btw....if i remember correctly that training was not for a palletized coil but for a un-palletized "suicide" loaded coil....and all of that extra securement is fine and dandy but if it isn't chained the way DOT requires it doesn' t mean a thing

DD, Over a period of two LOOOONG nights, I managed to read every post in your thread. After lurking on this site, "doing research," for the past few weeks, I registered just so I could thank you for sharing your journey. I agree you are an excellent writer, and I would look forward to reading anything you might write on the subject. Despite your comments to the contrary, I had NO trouble staying wide awake while reading your postings.

Hope you continue to do well. Thanks for sharing your experiences.
