Quick update....

Everything has been going pretty darn good. Lately I have been in all the right places at the right times and getting light weight legal loads paying out the "you know what"....for example, Chicago, IL to Rockford, IL for $3200....you do the math and you'll see what I mean.....however....on the flip side of the coin I just had not 1, not 2, but the 3 loads back to back cancel on me. Sure I get a little $$ for a truck ordered and not used, but still......so here I am sitting just outside KC trying to find something decent. Been here all weekend and hoping I get rolling today.

I'm still alive and kicking. Just been busy (and somewhat lazy) to get on here and update. I'm still here at Landstar pulling a drop deck running from all four corners of this great country and all points in between. For the most part I still stay out on the road for a couple of weeks and then head to the house for a week or 2. A few months ago I started having major break downs with my truck with everything from broken clutch fan to dropping the transmission. I think over a course of about 4 months I spent somewhere in the neighborhood of 20-25k in repairs . "they" say everything happens in 3's, but with me that did not prove to be the case and it was more like when it rains it pours with break down after break down!! I ran through my maintenance account like it was going out of style and even came close to throwing in the towel with frustration (nature of the beast in this business). But fortunately I bounced back and all is good now. I've been out for about 4 weeks now chasing the almighty $$ pretty hard this time around because I'm about to take several weeks off and go see my son graduate college and get his commission as a Naval Officer. Not to mention I think I am well over due for some serious rest and relaxation .

Although I take good care of it with regular maintenance it was mostly just normal wear and tear...truck is a 2006 Pete 379 with 860,000+ miles.

Default All Done

Wow, can't believe it's been almost a year since my last post!! So here's a quick update:

I am no longer trucking.....I was doing very well with Landstar but was starting to get "bunt out" in general with driving. Back in Oct. 2013 I had made the decision that by winter 2014 I was going to hang up the keys. I started doing some research on what similar truck and trailers were selling for as well as what the market was like.

Knowing that there was probably not a lot of people out here with tens of thousands of $$ in their pockets looking for a commercial truck and step-deck, I decided to list it on Ebay with a "buy it now or best offer" to gauge what, if any, interest it would generate.

To my utter surprise, within 6hrs of posting it I had a offer that was $5k less than my list price. Although skeptical that it was a serious offer so soon after listing it, I accepted the offer and sure enough it was sold!! It all happened a lot sooner than I was expecting or prepared for, but as the old saying goes "when opportunity knocks, answer" .
