For some reason, I don't believe you. I think this is a setup!!!
HAHA...You'll see. Trucks on 58 move at a pretty good clip when it hits 4 lanes.

Hwy 58 through Kern and Mojave county are not the best county’s in Ca to get caught going that fast. The fines in those 2 counties are extremely HIGH...!!!!!!!!

I turn the cruise off at the top of the hill and let gravity get me back up instead of the cruise then turn it on again. Little things to start with. I know a lot of the tricks but not ready to accelerate like an old man just yet.
I accelerate slow in the "basement" taking it easy, but the higher gears it goes to the floor usually. You're dead nuts on regarding using the hill to get back up to speed. I've never understood why guys go WOT over the crest of the hill.

Just had it out with the lady in Subway. Can I help you? Yes, a small steak and cheese. Do you want a 6"? I want a small one. Well we have 6" and 12". Well, wouldn't common logic tell you which one is small and which one is large since you only carry 2 sizes???? WTF They do this at every Subway. They must be trained to try and make you say 6" and I refuse.
Ah yes, I despise any measurements that are non-metric as well

Last night on the History channel the program was about truck stops and of course they showed the Iowa 80.......It was facinating when they said it was built in 1964 and had 2 gas pumps and 1 diesel and 10 parking spaces on 5 acres. I'd say they grew just a tiny bit larger since then

They are building a dog wash at the IOWA80 next to the truck wash. It's a small little house that's going to have a coin operated do it yourself thing. From what I hear, it's a woman that runs the whole place or owns it. That explains to me why the place is so nice and clean.

At least in CA where I'm headed it seems all the truck stops have idle air. I don't mind being cold because you can put more clothes on but being hot stinks.

Don't know what happened last night, went to bed at 4 and slept till 2!!!! I usually only sleep 7 hours but went to IOWA80 instead of taking my nap. Got my priorities ya know.

My oil pressure is back to normal after running for a while.

Well they definitely have the room to grow. They mentioned on the show last night that the entire lot is 220 acres but only 105 of it is currently being utilized. That gives them plenty of room for expansion.

Those truck stop directories are for the birds. I did my 300 miles this morning and wanted to get something to eat. The truck stop directory said the next thing around was a Shell station with pretty much nothing other than snacks. I said what the heck and pulled off exit 75 in Parachute, CO off of Rt 70.

Screw the Shell. This is like a truckers paradise with every type of food you can imagine. A sleepy little place with tons of restaurants and places to park your truck on the street everywhere!!!

I just had breakfast in a really really nice place. This is the kind of town that makes you want to walk around after eating and it doesn't matter how far away you are from the restaurant.

The waitress made me laugh to myself. It was her first day. Maybe 25 or so. The biggest smile you ever saw. Didn't have a clue. Would just stand there for it seemed like an eternity after telling me my food would be ready in a second. She would just stand there saying nothing but a huge smile. A total air head but for her it worked. I told the other waitress she should work in a day care. Little kids would eat her up. Made you want to take a nap after listening to her talk. If I was only 5 years younger I would hit on her!!! ha!

Just came over the mountain from Denver. 2 hours and 1/4 tank of gas. 30mph up the hill, 30mph down the hill with the jake screaming it's brains out. I'm 80,000 on the nose this time.

Had trouble with my truck yesterday. Maybe I'll post the symptoms later and see if any of you can figure it out. 2 shops and a handful of mechanics couldn't figure it out. I fixed it.

You can't expect the truckstop directories to list all the place you can park your truck on the street and get something to eat can you?

I think they are a pretty useful tool to find non franchise stlye truck stops. And parking spots that most don't know about.

I guess what I'm saying is it would be real good for someone to put out a truckstop directory that listed all the places instead of chains with a description like I just gave.

I'm sure there are tons of places that are a few miles off the highway that are really worth it. Sort of like a Foders for truckers.
