Welcome Steve. Learned years ago that the high route through the desert was always faster than through LA. LOL..Prettier drive too.

Trucks run faster on that route also, 70mph is a common speed running through there

I'm at my favorite truck stop in Iowa. Just got my truck washed and a PM done. My oil pressure is now 40 pounds at an idle instead of 30. Wonder why? The second I hit the pedal it goes up to 50 like before.

Cops pulling trucks over everywhere in Illinois. They were whipping by me at probably 70 when the speed limit was 55 and I would pass them a little later on while getting a ticket. I've been driving slower and I got 6.2 on my last fill up. I normally get 5.2. I've been practicing what was said in that other thread on MPG.

Doing at least 600 a day which isn't that bad. I need to be in CA on Monday morning. This shipper was in a bind and I committed to doing it.

I'm going to try and get a load to a Texas border after CA. I need a little break in Mexico.

HAHA...You'll see. Trucks on 58 move at a pretty good clip when it hits 4 lanes.

I know you can run 60 without geting pulled in CA...but you dang sure aren't going to get away with 70 all the time. I've seen a lot of BBR's sitting with CHP lights out there.

Steve..you tried using that cruise control full time yet?? Set it at around 65 and you should get pretty decent MPG's.

You kidding, I use the cruise control non stop when I can. Later in the day it's a pain because there's always some old timer doing 50 in a 70 zone. I was down shifting before to try and keep my speed up going up the hills but I don't do that anymore. My engine pulls real strong all the way down to 1100 so I let it chug up the hills. I turn the cruise off at the top of the hill and let gravity get me back up instead of the cruise then turn it on again. Little things to start with. I know a lot of the tricks but not ready to accelerate like an old man just yet.

I'm in Des Moines now and it's pretty hot out. I may be running my truck for a while until I'm ready to sleep. I woke up kind of early last night and had to turn it on, I was dying. No Idle Air in Iowa.

Just had it out with the lady in Subway. Can I help you? Yes, a small steak and cheese. Do you want a 6"? I want a small one. Well we have 6" and 12". Well, wouldn't common logic tell you which one is small and which one is large since you only carry 2 sizes???? WTF They do this at every Subway. They must be trained to try and make you say 6" and I refuse.

I need to get to Mexico.

You'll feel like you're in Mexico when you get to Bakersfield. It will be about 100 degrees too.
