Maybe your not doing it right. Maybe you need a better song to shake your booty to!

Your rear end doesn't have a hole? Neither does my gf's dad's. He shits into a bag right now.

The specs are on the drivers door and there are lots. Which spec do you want to know? At 65 I'm around 1500 rpm. I was in the Mohave Desert once with 100 miles in front of me and nothing around and was able to bury the speedometer no problem and still under 2000 rpm with plenty of power left over.

I read my Detroit book the other day and did what they suggested. They said even at 1200rpm the truck is still pulling hard. Before I would shift down into 9th but this trip I leave the cruise on and let it chug up the hill. I think I'm doing much better on the fuel economy.

I bought a Sirius unit yesterday and installed it. I forgot all about getting one of those. I'm kind of a news junkie and was thrilled the other day when I was able to listen to the news on a station I found. I bought the cheapest one for $49.95 and it works great. Now I have a problem trying to pick which news station I want to listen too!

All 4 wheels have power to them.

Remember torque wants to go to the path of least resistance, like electricity.

So if any of your wheels are in a big pothole, you wont move from a stop. All of the power will go to that one wheel.

All a power divider lock does is lock the differential(theres TWO in your front pumpkin) so that both differentials move at the same rate. Both driveshafts will always spin the exact same rate.

Now the axle lock obviously locks either your front or your back diff side to side. Most trucks just have a rear diff lock.

With all 3 activated, all 4 wheels will turn at the exact same speed. This doesn't handle very good, obviously.

Steve, do you ever get weirded out knowing your a household name  We just pulled into the Iowa 80 and I said if your lucky Steve just pulled out and they'll be front row parking. Sure enough there was front row parking right in front of the doors. You didn't just leave did you :?:

Of course the down side of that is you may become a generic saying. As in: Don't pull a Steve. Snort.

Have a safe trip.

lol....No, wasn't me. I pulled in Friday morning but the truck wash was packed and so was the barber. I had steak and eggs, bought my Sirius Radio and split. I did put a cone up in the front "CAD member parking only". You must have got that spot. HA!

I'm guessing a 3.73 rear axle, 24.5 rims, tall rubber.

We have a T800 with 22.5" rims, low profile tires and a 4.33 rear gear....it's brutal. I drove it for the first time a couple of weeks ago and it was ~2000 rpm at 70 IIRC. Yuck.

Them 4.33's are great for maintaining speed on grades, and good fuel mileage at 55-60 phm, but your right...it's brutal trying to go faster. Their also great for heavuhaul and off-road.

My rims are 24.5 but lo pro tires. I looked at my stickers and no reference at all to gearing. I set my cruise this morning at 65 and I'm at 1430 RPM. I put the rpm display up on the computer.

I do really good loaded up on the hills. Coming out of Morenci AZ with copper I'm faster than anyone else climbing the hills and I know they have exactly the same weight as me.

I'm very happy with whatever gearing is in there now and if I were to buy a new truck I would get the same thing.

Most of my driving does seem to be on high speed roads.

The birds are having a huge buffet here on all the bugs stuck to everyones grills. It's hot so they are cooking like a barbecue. My windshield is like a rainbow with all different colors.

Maybe 3.55 then. Those rpms are nice. Drives me nuts to see that tach spin up.

Gearing depends on many factors, and specs are ever-changing.

1) transmission final drive ratio, many fleets are going to direct drive (1:1 final gear) transmissions. This requires a lower numerical gear in your diffs.

2) Tire height, a lot of variations there.

3) engine operating range

65 mph at 1500 rpm is just about perfect for a detroit.

1200 rpms is fine. My volvo really falls on its face at that rpm though, your detroit might do a bit better.

BTW, if you want some good software to figure out rpms at certain mph(you should be able to figure out what gears you have) get "cummins powerspec"
