Maybe once I hit KY I'll give it another try and see if it's loosened up at all. serbie, it's all yours We only need to be worried when videos of his front end up online.. j/k man.. just keeping the spirit alive Steve, on a serious note.. I can't find it, but think you've said you've got a Detroit in your star.... is it a series 60?? If so.. what's the spec's on it. I ask because my co. truck is a series 60 475/515 connected to a meritor straight 10 and a 3.58. Truck is a poky SOB at times.

Yes, it's a Detroit 60 but not sure the other numbers. It's 500 horse and can be bumped up to 550. I found out from the mechanic when he had the computer hooked up that all they do is allow more fuel to go in to get more horsepower. I thought they increased the boost on the turbo but I guess not.
I have a 10 speed Eaton and not sure what the rears are but I can cruise at 85 through the Mojave Desert with plenty to spare. I think I'm pretty sure the problem is not in the rear and some place in the front end. As soon as I get out in the open I'll hook the camera up inside the engine compartment and video the front end. The last time my truck was in they replaced the engine mounts. Now I can tell at a glance who has broken or worn ones. When I use to shut my engine off it would keep going longer and shake the truck back and forth. Now when I shut it off it stops on the spot. Got a pretty good storm going on outside with lightening and thunder and it's pouring rain. FREE WASH!! I just had to get out and turn on the valve for the heat. It's not really cold out but there is so much humidity in the air it's uncomfortable. I have the heat on and the A/C and hope that clears it up.

I'm not comfortable yet guessing at rear end specs.. so couldn't help you as to what you have. What's your rpm @ 65 mph?? That might spark some ones memory and might be able to tell you.
I've asked before, but have to ask again.. as time goes on. any regrets leaving your former profession to navigate the highways?? Has the "new-ness" worn off yet or do you still get giddy when it's time to leave??

Ummmm....why guess at the spec's on the diff's? Open the driver's door, cock yer head to the left a tad bit...and read the labels for the truck, that are on the door frame, it's all right there.

Hadn't thought of that.

I'm not sure what numbers on the door you are referring too. I don't see anything that says what the axle is unless I don't know what I'm looking at. Can you give me an example of what a typical number would be?
I have a question. When your differentials are NOT locked in, which wheels have power to them? The rear set or the front?

This was the best decision for me. I have not looked back. I get home, take care of what I have to do and I'm excited and ready to hit the road right away. The cruise line has been calling me lately and wants me to do a few cruises this summer so I may take a month off and do that. Not sure. I'm pretty convinced that AT&T on the Ohio turnpike is dirtying the signal to all WIFI people. I have a 100% strength signal but my connection only works for a few minutes then nothing. You hang up and reconnect and the same result. I'm sure if you buy there WIFI time it works perfect. I'm rolling along today at 67 the whole time and just stopped for a coffee and to fuel up. I don't need fuel but it's $2.58 here in Indiana. I think that's where I am. I'm going to stop at the IOWA80 truck stop for a shower, haircut, truck wash and maybe a few goodies for my truck. My little round mirror on my side just broke for the second time in 2 months???? I'm hoping it's nice weather when I get there and someone is polishing tanks and stuff. I would like to get that done also but I really don't see that much around those parts. Off we go!

Sometimes those spec labels are in the glovebox or in the passenger door frame.
