Ditto!!
Just for the fun of it....I used to put on a nice "Regimental Tie"....or a "Power Tie" and go in. (Yes...I wore a shirt with a collar 8) ) And it never failed to amaze me the response I would get. I'd get called "Sir"..politely, and conducted my business and was gone....often before others.
You are what you look like. Like it or not....thats the perception that others have....and they treat you based on that perception, and there is nothing you can do about it...except.....cause them to raise the perception quotient a hundred or so points by looking sharp and acting professional.
Driving a truck is just as "honorable" as any other profession in the civilian world.....and if you can't look like and be a "professional"..... you are "part of the problem".

Some other drivers for the big carriers like Swift are usually at the docks when I happen to be there and I'm sorry but some of them, not all, look like something the cat dragged in.

Our company provides logo'd shirts and hats.... I always wear mine....and I can see a difference in how Chem plant people act with us versus the "cat box people". We deal with people with very definite safety protocols....and we carry the equipment and clothing to comply....and life is just so much easier when you play by the rules or exceed them.

Being "clean cut" means you look "presentable". Non-offensive, neutral, and can basically not upset someone with your appearance or body odor.
Sadly....it seems that many people in this industry seem to be afraid of soap.
To me, cleancut....is to be clean, neat, and presentable. You don't offend a person next to you with body odor....and your clothes are clean.
You maintain yourself with some sense of pride in your appearance....unless you are beyond the pale and think 17 studs in your nose, ears and eyelids are "kewl".....(sorry folks.... I can't think of a single reason to poke holes in body parts)
|
So Clean jeans a double breasted button down shirt with sleaves of a length that hides my skull Tats ...my outback Duster ...and my shiny engineer boots would be cool ?
I know its excentric ...but in the words of the imortal Mick Jagger "I like it "
Shawn
Ohhh wait ...Im broke so its bugnutz ...sorry you have to have fluid capitol to be excentric ...my mistake ...Ill work on that
