etpt- don't take some of these remarks to heart. You are 100 per cent correct about the value of being with a young family. I worked overnites and swings and missed much of the fun stuff associated with being a "Dad" during my 20's & 30's as a 911 dispatcher. I am catching up on that now with my grandson. Be happy you found out soon the job wasn't for you, but it should leave you with the thought about how much respect everyone should have for the men and woman who elect to work in the trucking field. Actually anyone who drives for living is owed that respect. Bill

If I had known about trucking before I started what I know now, I would have RUN from it. I am going in my 3rd year of trucking, I am with a good
company. But I am looking every time on my short home time to find a REAL job again. I dont want to hear this ITS A LIFESTYLE or THATS THE JOB. Because those drivers who say this are the ones the company take ESPECIALLY advantage of. My company comes almost weekly up with a new way to save THEM money and pay me LESS. I just found out my ONE week vacation after one year in the company is actually 5 days.HMMM....I was sure a WEEK has 7 days. I also DRIVE 7 days a week, not 5. But next to that I am SICK of begging for MILES/WORK all the time. Nobody can tell me different that the companys take advantage of you , lie and cheat whenever they can to get you to do the most silly runs. I dont know how often I heared from drivers that they were SUPPOSED to go home, but it always gets delayed for weeks and weeks. OR getting KING OF THE SHORT RUN while supposed to be a NATIONAL driver. So I cant blame him for trying to warn new people coming into this job.

Now, their are those who are doing well, making at least $1000 per week for being OTR. But many of you do not. You know who you are, now know this. You deserve more. $650/week? I wouldn't even consider going OTR for that pay. I can drive a mixer truck and get that. And to be quite truthful, I wouldn't even consider going OTR for $1000/week. Why? Quite simple. I'm worth more. AND SO ARE ALL OF YOU!!! Let me repeat that last statement. ALL OF YOU ARE WORTH MORE. And as soon as you realize it for yourself, you too will do better in all things. Life. Money. Happiness. Something to think about. It's not about how much they pay you, it's about how much you think you are worth. Don't settle for less. Just my .02 cents.

How in the He!! do you think you know how much I make? He is home every night. And most important, he is right. By whose standards? Yours dear BOY! Every truck driver needs to be paid for their time. They are. It is figured into the CPM. Now, their are those who are doing well, making at least $1000 per week for being OTR. And many more that do much better than that. But many of you do not. Yea. People just starting out, people who want more home time, ect... You know who you are, now know this. You deserve more. Only if they earn it. Should I pay someone more even if they don't earn ( produce ) that much? $650/week? I wouldn't even consider going OTR for that pay. What about the guy making $210.00 / week (min. wage BTW ). would he be better off? I can drive a mixer truck and get that. And to be quite truthful, I wouldn't even consider going OTR for $1000/week. Good Don't!!!! That is up to you. Leave the rest of us the hell out of it! Why? Quite simple. I'm worth more. I would like to buy you for what you are worth and sell you for what you THINK you are worth. I know I could retire early. Let me repeat that last statement. ALL OF YOU ARE WORTH MORE. And as soon as you realize it for yourself, you too will do better in all things. Life. Money. Happiness. You seem to think money= happiness. Try again! Something to think about. It's not about how much they pay you, it's about how much you think you are worth. Don't settle for less. quote]Just my .02 cents.[/ Yep! That is about how much I think your worth! Hey You said it yourself!
