Getting back to almost serious for a moment...
Gun control is a lot like global warming in that the only thing we can do at this point is smile. The contards have screwed things up so badly that there is simply no course of action that works at this point. With the other great contard mistake, voodoo economics, there's time to fix it. We're in the economic abyss, but we were here in the 1920s too and we managed to climb out. We can do it again. With guns, (and probably global warming), it's simply too late. There are so many guns in circulation that outlawing them would have almost zero affect on people's ability to secure a gun.

Not sure that was repete's reasoning. However, in case you missed the discussion this is a continuation of a "challenge" of sorts that repete made to me in the "why I carry a gun" thread in the Politics section. I think he's still having trouble with the definition of an assault weapon... and needs my HELP to identify them!
 OH BTW I still say an assault weapon is anything used as a weapon to assault someone, come on people most of you are better in English then I am, break it down!

The original/basic model wouldn't qualify as either... though the Mini-14 T/R probably would qualify as an assault weapon, and the AC-556 model "might" (also) qualify as the machine gun (though not by the standard definition of one.) How'd I do? An AR15 an AR15 thats all is, it's not a civilian version of an M16 it a wanna be! Have you ever looked at the two side by side? The biggest and most importent difference is in the lower reciever, the M16 has select fire (auto/brust) and semi the AR has only semi. Kits to convert are NOT AVAILABLE and if a gun can be easily converted it is illegal under BATFE rules. Don't know anything about Gattling exept he made a few different crank fired guns. My Mini 14 is the same caliber as most AR (.223) and both are gas operated and both take 20&30 rnd mags and both have flash suppressors. the difference being is the mini has a wood stock and appears to be more "conventional" and lacks a bayonet lug How'd ya do? Not to bad stick with me grass hopper!

AAHH!! You do realize that there is a deference between an assualt weapon and an assault RIFLE? Assault rifles ARE capable of full auto fire. I know that small tidbit of info dosn't matter to newsies and political types but it should be noted!
