Default Assault weapons Pick one

It's simple just pick what is an assault weapon, and for a bonus tell me which gun is the machine gun! Of course the bonus is worth NOTHING. We'll start out simple.

I can only get this to load 2 pics at a time so bear with me.

OK, this isn't going to work! I can't get the other pics to load and I have know problem admitting it's beyond me! Sorry. I"ll keep trying and we'll see what happens. As far as the 2 pics I did get posted, in pic #1 both are military rifles the top is German K98 Mauser used in WWI and WWII the bottom one is a soviet bloc .22 trainer.
In pic #2 the bottom one is a Remington 700 used (at times) by the US as a sniper rifle (this model not this rifle) and the top is a Smith&Wesson take off of the Rem.700

I don't even understand the rules! Is there supposed to be an assault weapon AND a machine gun in EACH photo that I'm supposed to correctly identify? Or was there supposed to be one (or more) assault weapons... and ONE machine gun in the entire gallery of pics that you haven't been able to post yet?

Telling me the make/model etc of the guns is about as useless as naming the twenty some kids in the Dougan family (is that the right name?) But, I don't mind the education.

I COULD take a stab at the question, based on just the four rifles, if that is what you want. I don't mind sounding ignorant for the FIRST time in my life.

I take it these are part of your collection. Very nice looking rifles.

Shoot, just order a flatscreen from Amazon.com and you can get a free full blown military version AR-15. Guy in DC found just that when his "flatscreen" was delivered. He thought the box looked funny and thought that maybe that had shipped a TV stand that he wasn't aware was part of it, opened the box and found the gun. No word on where the TV was.

VERY COOL!! I have a friend here in NY ( I really do!) that bought an AR from a large chain store and about 2weeks later he got a phone call from them saying that the gun was recalled. He then talked to another friends father who works at the store and found out the store screwed up and sold him a NON NY complaint gun! He held the gun hostage till they gave him a very expensive and much nicer AR.

HOBO, I can't get the pics to load so I just gave out the info, I was starting with a couple of simple bolt actions that have a military background (assault weapon?) Then I was going to move on to an AR15 and another rifle both are gas operated and same caliber, they just look different. Then a few others that may surprise you and last but not least the machine gun. But thats not what you think either! It's an 1893 (I think) double barrel shotgun made by Prize Machine Gun hence the name, that would've fooled everyone, most would've guessed the AR or the Mini14

The reason for the thread is? If someone that doesn't know anything about guns can't pick out the assault weapon then banning them does no good? There's some logic in there somewhere, I'm just having trouble finding it.

The point I think he's trying to make is that they're classifying specific guns as "assault weapons" simply from it's design. An assault weapon is nothing more than a semi-automatic rifle that looks cool. They shoot exactly the same as any semi-automatic gun. He also pointed out the M1's, which are fully automatic rifles, but doesn't "look" cool.

There's no such thing as a photo of "assault weapon"...

"Assault Weapon" is a political term coined by gun control advocates.

Not sure that was repete's reasoning. However, in case you missed the discussion this is a continuation of a "challenge" of sorts that repete made to me in the "why I carry a gun" thread in the Politics section. I think he's still having trouble with the definition of an assault weapon... and needs my HELP to identify them!

I've seen pics of true "assault weapons" and pics of non's. I can honestly tell you that I failed to correctly pick the right one each time. Ban them all you want, from what I've read it is very simple to buy a normal non assault weapon and convert it over later to an assault weapon. So knowing that it is very simple to do, what good is banning them from the public? Aerial fireworks are banned in VA yet every July 4th more than half the population is shooting off aerial's because it is very simple to run up to PA or WV or OH or down to SC to buy them and bring'em back.
