Hey GMH, don't talk that way about my San Jon, N.M. it's not a hole or dump there's just plain nothing there, like red desert, wy. Don't get off there to bypass the scale, because with a 48' you just do make the turns and at one pt. you are just several hundred feet behind the scale house. I knew for sure they would be waiting for me when I turned down to the truckstop, but it was a lucky day. I live in N.M. it's just fine except I-40 thru albuquerque, every spring they start road construction on the same old sections of road causing traffic jams thru to the fall. Well, have a safe ride passing thruand happy trails.

Musta been a different San Jon. Or else I need to review the logs, or something. We are running super solo (or very nearly). To get our 70 hour times synced up, he's driving a couple of hours in the AM, then going off duty. I'm driving the rest of the day. Going around Flagstaff, we were often in ninth. Pulled eighth on a few downgrades to keep things cool. Like I said, we're running 100% legal. I'll try to double check the mile mark for where we were.
Anyway, we got to Laughlin around 6:00 NE time (the only time that has meaning to me any longer ) and have screwed around here for a bit. Tomorrow we can drop at Hershey in Redlands, then head... I don't know where to pick up a load heading for Salt Lake City. Because of the timings involved, we'll be able to spend a few hours in Vegas. BTW, don't let them BS you at dispatch with a claim that they don't preplan loads anymore. Maybe it's just a trainer thing, but we've got one. A drop and hook pickup after a drop and hook delivery. Sweet. I'm being seriously spoiled by the load availability. It seems that trainers get first crack at loads, so that's another bonus to training. So tonight I'm in Laughlin. First time there, so I got my prime rib buffet comped. And the video poker machines must be loose for newbies, as I'm up $50 the first time being in a casino. jiptwoo, we weren't trying to duck a scale. Our load is 100% legal on all axles and we've got a prepass. That's just where we ran out of steam for the night.

Salt Lake terminal tonight, BTW. What you gonna do if you start to like pulling a reefer? Be sure to take good notes on the differences between the dry box freight you were hauling and this new temp control stuff--- you might decide you what to stay ----Blue! Ha!Ha! No, seriously today I had to prime my unit to get it started( it ran out of fuel at the yard--- no one picked it up- they didn't t-call me(while in shop)--- this is important for you to learn how to do(if you're gonna be a chicken hauler). Of course, I know what some are thinking--- if you didn't let the unit run dry--u wouldn't have to be priming it. So, tonight I'm in Ruther Glen- deliver rescheduled for 8am. The shop also cut 9th gear rpm back to 1600 and lowered the opti-idle rpm-- all to save fuel. Drove all day today, and honestly couldn't really tell the difference- as I progressive shift anyway-- and seldom run the tech above 1600 anyway. I do believe I only notice 1 thing odd all day- I was rolling down hill on US40 in 9th and it acted "gear bound" with the needle stuck at 1600-- hmmmm. |
