Spencerian, I hope your clowning with us. Because that would be funny.
What is NOT funny, if you are serious, is that your company stated that YOU are qualified to train another driver. Because if they think you are good enough, they have really set the standards really low. But let forget about that for a minute. I realize you are new to trucking. I've been driving T/T for 26 months, and I'm still new. But I know enough to say this. I don't care if they double your pay, your life is not worth risking. Point in fact, they made you a trainer. That means out of all of the drivers they hired, YOU were the most qualified. That boils down to the rest barely able to hold the wheel. Do you really want to let one of these drivers drive you rig with you in the passenger seat, not able to do anything? I've lost some friends who had a considerable more experience than myself because of the actions (or lack of action) of a trainee. The people that really miss them the most is the families they left behind. Wife's, kids, parents.... Who do you have to leave behind? Think about it. And like I said, I hope your clowning with us.

If it is contrary to what I am being told then I will remedy the situation by any means.
Safety and Training is trying to "recruite you" into training and willing to tell you anything to get you to be one. You best find other Trans Am Trainers (ones that have been doing it awhile) and inquire with them as to how the trainee program progresses. BTW how does Trans Am "compensate" you for being a Trainer. That, IMHO, is the best question yet on this thread. The answer to that question will tell you EXACTLY the type of driver the company expects you to turn out in a specific number of days. To be honest with you I really have to question the fact that a company would want a trainer with as little experence as you have. Couple that with your work history ( jumping around so often ) it makes for a major problem. I think your intent is pure but you need to REALLY think this thru before you get into something that can cause you a lot of problems later. Just my $.02 Ridge P.S. When I first saw this thread I thought I would have to lock it on the first page. The replies were "tame" compared to what I expected. Take the hint. These guys are NOT steering you wrong.

You always hear about companies making rookies trainers, but I never actually heard this confirmed.
I am scared to see what a 6 months rookie can possibly teach another newbie driver. I have been driving for 7 years and don't think I am ready to train anyone else. BTW, isn't he the guy that had a million things he just had to have from whatever employer he was going to grace his presence with?

You all act like it is a sin! CR England will make you a trainer after 6 months. What's worse is when they put 2 drivers in a lease truck with their "cat" program. Both drivers have had 6 weeks of CR's prime SEAT MEAT training. I did the CAT thing. Had one driver have 3 accidents in 2 days. He hit a mailbox in Connecticut, a light pole in Boston, and a fence in Massachusetts. But alas, I am mainly jerking your chains. I COULD BE a trainer. But that probably won't happen. i do value my life more than the 2 cents a mile extra I would get as a trainer.
It was great to see some of the comments though. Even those newer than me chimed in with their opinions.
