He got all of us. What is funny to me, is that most of you, including myself, thought he was serious.

Told you it would be funny.

Well..... I think he WAS serious about becoming a trainer until he read what all the other posters had to say. Maybe he is finally starting to listen to those who know better? Maybe he is still going to try it anyway without telling us so we can't say AGAIN ; "We told you so". Just to judge from his past postings here this would be most likely.

Spencerian: Read my "tag line". But for you I would like to add: " But it will not come overnight". I think you made a good step in the right direction with the company you are with now, by talking about your not getting enough miles, and it has seemed to help. I wish you the best of luck. It is up to you to MAKE it happen.

Ridge

First day in the world?

Gee, folks back down from a fight once they realize they are losing the war of wits.

My Moneys on that he’s going to do it anyway!

[quote="spencerian"]Ah, 6 months of experience.

There is no seduction either. I don'y run their illegal way. So why would I team drive with a new guy?

That's the thing. If I can't make it safely and legally why do it?
I'm sorry, but I don't think it's SAFE to let a new driver drive while I sleep.

If TransAm can't give me solo runs with a new driver then I'll resign. It's as simple as that.[/quote

I wish you would have been my trainer when I started TransAm. The nut job I had was a real winner. One of the first things he said to be was "I don't like coaching, but it's good & easy money" I was like great, this is going to be an interesting experience. After our first day of being out, we teamed almost the rest of of the time ugh I reported him, but I doubt anything was done.

Are you CRAZY???
I only have 6 months experience!
And you would have rather had me as a trainer?

Tsk, tsk. What is this world coming to?

Nuff said. I'll be leaving for quite a while. To those of you that posted advice, thanks. To those with thoughts that they knew something, but knew nothing :dung:

The "trainer" I had was an older guy. I believe he had been driving for several years.....that should tell ya something ;-)

So typical, so typical. Makes me wonder why you even bother hanging out here at all.

Ah, Karnajj. Who are we to question the astute businessman spencerian. His knowledge and experience far outweighs any thing that anyone on this board can provide.

THAT......is why he is now working on his new job at JB Hunt. Jeez, four driving jobs in 9 months. I'd say he'd end up at CRE next, but he already blew that one right off the bat.

I DID ponder it. I did call training at TransAm. Ultimately I decided against it because of the safety factor and the fact that TransAm may just want a cheap team. But I don't like being told I can't do something just because YOU SAY SO. There is no way you can convince me that some veteran trainers that use and abuse trainees would do a better job than me.

To those of you that have experience and don't train, but come on here and degrade people because they WANT TO QUIT, have an accident, or any other silly thing SHAME ON YOU! You have the ability to change an industry one trainee at a time.

And YOOPR my credability on this forum was always zero.
I only have 2 years under my belt. I no longer drive, and I wouldn't have dreamed of being a trainer. Matter of fact there is still a whole lot that I needed to learn. For example: I never had to use snow chains-- and never knew how to put them on. That was always a worry of mine when I was OTR. Never was taught, and when winter came, I was always on flat land. I remember one time being snowed in for 2 days in SC. Just didn't feel safe driving in the ice, and the company I was working for at the time. Demanded me to stay put.

If I remember right, -- As a trainer at Trans-Am you only get paid for those miles that the student had driven, When the student was on his or her own, for a whole month. So if the student quit befor then, then the trainer didn't recieve the extra 2 cents.

I am not going to tell ya you can or can't. I just know from personal, that I wouldn't have been able too.

I may not know all there is (actually I KNOW I don't). But I want to level the field a little. I won't use my trainee to get miles, and I won't allow them to speed. That being said, I will train them to do what is LEGAL and SAFE to the best of my ability.
After maybe 5 years you might know enough to teach someone how to drive. but if you really want to be a quick trainer, go to SWIFT (this week you can't spell trainer, next week you are one)
