I never said I would be effective, or the most knowlegeable.
Do YOU need me to read it aloud, burn it to CD and have it mailed to you?
I said I would/could provide a safer training environment than I was given.

This isn't just about you, you will be responsible for the life of someone else not only while they are on your truck but once they get their own truck as well. You think you can handle that responsibility?
you're right. The trainers with 6 months experience that lease and use the trainee to get miles are better. This isn't just about you, you will be responsible for the life of someone else not only while they are on your truck but once they get their own truck as well. Least you admit that you were given no knowledge and now you process no knowledge. Originally Posted by spencerian

Becoming a trainer at your newbie stage is no difference since it will be just the blind leading the blind.
With your eventful jumping around 6 months of knowledge you are the trainers you complain about.
It’s just the money you are after. I know darn well every company pays their trainers to train. Don’t give me that crap that you aren’t in it for the money, because you aren't ready to train yet. As I stated above you are in need of trainer. Well a real trainer if your company has one.
Plus, I would never work for a company that would make someone a trainer sight unseen. And with no work history. Someone who’s not even employed there yet. Doesn’t say much about TransAm, and if you weren’t so green-horned and inexperienced you would know that too.
But, you don’t because you are a newbie.

Spence, I think you are out of your mind, completely.
Driving through winter only once is not enough experience. Myself, have only been driving about 16 months. I have not driven the mountains out west but have driven the ones in the east. I will tell you that even though I have enough confidance to drive safely, I fell that I still do not have the confidance that a seasoned vet does. This is something that comes from driving many years. Right there is enough reason to not do it.
I am sure you might be a person that can be a good teacher, but you still lack the experience. Plain and simple. You are green. No if's, and's or but's about it.
I actually never thought that this day would come, but I have to say that I actually completely agree 110% with everything that Fozzy has said.
One requirement to be a trainer should be a minimum of atleas 5 years of experience. No matter how good of a trainer said person might be. Please spencerian, for all of our safety, DO NOT DO IT.

Spencerain;
A question to ask yourself:
I realize what T/A has told you about it being "your call" as to whether or not to run as a team. At the same time, if they were planning to be true to their word, then why would they need you to be a trainer.
It would make far better sense for T/A to run you as a solo driver, as opposed to having you as a trainer, with a trainee, running as a single driver.
They may tell you that it is up to you as to how you run, but it is also up to them to decide how many miles you get each week. I understand your motives for wanting to offer new trainees something better than what you received as a trainee, but there are still giong to be limits on how much you can offer a trainee, by virtue of your inexperience.
As I look at your situation, it appears to me that in order for this to work, EVERYTHING has to go exactly right; if ANYTHING goes wrong, you could wind up screwed if you are lucky, or seriously injured or dead if you are not so lucky.
You said that you are not doing this for money; okay, if you say so!!.....But if you are not doing this for money, then I have to ask why you are willing to stick your neck out to help some stranger, who, as others have indicated, could have a very questionable history or profile, when you SHOULD be taking care of Spencerain & family first??

Ok some of these guys change jobs so often I thought he was talking about going to work for them. Heck, I read that we was thinking of it in another post.
Even though that post was still a virgin it was old and outdated. :?
6 month wonders. Guess that's Trans Am at it's best.

I am aware that TransAm may want me to be a cheap team, and if that happens I simply will go to safety. I have called and talked to the training department. they assured me it was MY CALL if I drive as a team. I was told it was completely up to the "coach". If it is contrary to what I am being told then I will remedy the situation by any means.
Spencerian, This statement alone tells me that regardless of what Safety and your Training dept may tell you, you will be expected (at some point in the trainees training) to run your truck as a team. Your dispatch/FM will start pressuring you into running as a team, probably within the first week of the trainees training. Safety and Training is trying to "recruite you" into training and willing to tell you anything to get you to be one. You best find other Trans Am Trainers (ones that have been doing it awhile) and inquire with them as to how the trainee program progresses.
BTW how does Trans Am "compensate" you for being a Trainer.
