Adding pork to a bill is not just the GOP....Unfortunatly all bills have pork added to them. Thats just the way our system works. If the democrats are opposing this bill ....its not because of the pork...it would be because it doesnt have enough democrat pork. If you dont think the democrats add just as much pork as the GOP, you are living in denial.
Why hasnt anyone answered the simple questions Ive asked? What do the democrats offer me? What do they offer the trucking industry? Call me selfish...Call me greedy....But the most important question I could have is "How do the democrats plan on letting me keep MORE OF MY MONEY IN MY MIDDLE CLASS POCKET? Call me crazy, but i just dont see a person like myself voting for getting to keep less of my money. Personally, Im loving this economy, Im loving this country....things are going great for me. Why vote for change? All votes are held on the local level. Im fortunate to live in a very GOP area where we have one of the TOP ECONOMIES IN THE NATION. I love what my GOP congressman has done for this area and the country. Change? I dont think so.

honestly, I would think the democrats would have a better chance this election if they would offer solutions. A HUGE MISTAKE the democrats are making right now is assuming that someone like me is going to switch parties because of what some sick old pervert who wasnt even my congressman did in Florida. LIKE I SAID...ALL ELECTIONS ARE HELD AT THE LOCAL LEVEL....I can assure you that after November my area will still have a GOP congressman and our economy will still be going strong.

The people who may switch are the ones who are disillusioned.

I didn't say, nor do I believe, that ONLY GOP sponsors pork. I said that THAT GOP sponsored bill is probably riddled with it, and that is probably why the Dems are against it. I haven't seen the bill.
I didn't expect that YOU would switch your vote because of Foley. I said that we were probably given a "gift" seat because of him. One we weren't expecting to win because of a close race and the disillusionment of over 60% of Republicans. I could talk til I was blue in the face, and I couldn't convince you that Dems will make YOUR life any better. Perhaps they wouldn't. But, I happen to care about those less fortunate than you, even if YOU don't, and I believe they would make THEIR lives better. I don't like seeing our country moving closer and closer to a caste system. I'm glad you are happy in your GOP wonderworld. Be glad you don't have to live in the real world where jobs are gone and people of BOTH parties are having trouble finding new ones with which to feed their families. The local workforce investment funds are all but dried up, but we are still spending billions of dollars... including MY tax dollars... to fight a war that we are not winning. As long a George keeps telling you what you want to hear, you don't have to worry about how he changed a record surplus into a record deficit. Someday, that will have to be paid down again... and it will probably fall to the Dems to ensure it gets done. Then you can blame us for THAT, too.

Ok I will make it much easier for you.....How do the democrats help the "less fortunate"?
I always hear the left say things like this, but personally i dont see how they help the "less fortunate" It seems when you look at the areas with the largest population of "less fortunate people" the more likely their local leaders will be democrat? Why is that? Another thing for you to ponder. As much as I hate to bring the subject back to Foley. While watching the news today, I see ALL REFPUBLICANS discusted with his behavour as well as democrats. I dont see anyone making excuses for him. In fact it seems that our whole party is glad he quit. You know no matter what the pervert did, you have to respect him quiting. I know what you are saying "why should him quiting deserve respect?" Well let me refresh you on some recent history: In 1983, then-Democratic Rep. Gerry Studds of Massachusetts was caught in a similar situation. In his case, Studds had sex with a male teenage page -- something Foley hasn't been charged with. Did he quit? Did he appoligize? NOT AT ALL!! He rejected Congress' censure of him and continued to represent his district until his retirement in 1996. Democrats didnt call for his resignation...in fact they kept on REELECTING HIM! In 1989 Barney Frank admitted he'd lived with Steve Gobie, a male prostitute who ran a gay sex-for-hire ring out of Frank's apartment. Frank, it was later discovered, used his position to fix 33 parking tickets for Gobie. Once again were democrats shocked by this behavour and corrpution? No....once again, you keep on electing him. You remember Mel Reynolds? Perhaps you dont...let me refresh your memory. Mel Reynolds was a democrat represenitive from Chicago. He was CONVICTED and sentenced to prison time for having sex with a 16 year old and trying to get her to lie about it. You would think the democrats would be upset with this. So what happened? Oh yeah....PRESIDENT CLINTON PARDONED HIM!!!! I tell you what if Foley is ever convicted of anything and President Bush pardons him....you will have a right to be pissed. And i can assure you that I would be pissed too. Democrats not only seem OK with the kind of behavior for which Foley is charged, but also they protect and excuse it. Only when it's GOP do they proclaim themselves shocked. To me thats a bit hypocritical.

Okay. So, for the next presidential election, WRITE MY NAME IN. That way, no one will know what to expect. As a truck driver, I can't be all bad. And, that way, you can "BLIND-SIDE" them all.

I really thought they should have indicated he was a milk truck driver.

Now consider...im sure you realize that if I had some free time I could come up with a list just like that of democrats.
I wasnt trying to get in a listing contest of bad politicians....we would end up tieing. What I was pointing out was a few cases in recent history, where not only were they worse than Foley, but the democrats ignored it, excused it...and in many cases, kept on voting them back into office. I dont see any republicans offering support for Foley. Now dont lie about this....but I bet if Foley is convicted over this and bush pardons him, You, the other deomcrats and the media would have a feild day with it. I can assure you that I as a GOP would be pissed at Bush if he pardoned Foley. WHAT I AM ASKING YOU IS WHERE WAS THE DEMOCRATS OUTRAGE WHEN CLINTON PARDONED A SEX OFFENDER MUCH WORSE THAN FOLEY? THAT WOULD BE THE DEFINITION OF A HYPOCRITE. I can assure you that I will always criticize the GOP sex offenders as much as the Democrats.

I wasnt trying to get in a listing contest of bad politicians....we would end up tieing. NO contest here, Sheepy! There have been MANY of both parties that have done similar things. That is why the original topic, AND my original responses, concerned the idea of cleaning house and starting over! What I was pointing out was a few cases in recent history, where not only were they worse than Foley, but the democrats ignored it, excused it...and in many cases, kept on voting them back into office. Let's not get into a p***ing match over WHO or WHAT was worse. We don't even know the full extent of Foley's "crimes" (if any) yet. I dont see any republicans offering support for Foley. No... no one is going to SUPPORT him, OUR problem is with the coverup. Now dont lie about this....but I bet if Foley is convicted over this and bush pardons him, You, the other deomcrats and the media would have a feild day with it. We allready ARE having a field day. Conviction or not! Hey... don't blame ME if Nixon set the bar for Republican corruption concerning "maintaining" power at all costs. Just as to you... Clinton set the bar for philandering. The question is... WHICH is a bigger threat to our Constitution and our government? I can assure you that I as a GOP would be pissed at Bush if he pardoned Foley. WHAT I AM ASKING YOU IS WHERE WAS THE DEMOCRATS OUTRAGE WHEN CLINTON PARDONED A SEX OFFENDER MUCH WORSE THAN FOLEY? A pardon, that is open to public scrutiny, is much different than a coverup. For the record, I don't condone pardoning ANY sexual predator. But, there MAY be a difference between just GAY sex, and Pedophilia. THAT WOULD BE THE DEFINITION OF A HYPOCRITE. I can assure you that I will always criticize the GOP sex offenders as much as the Democrats. I can appreciate, and join in with that sentiment. I've made no secret of my disapproval of Bush. But, I've always included the fact that I would feel the SAME way about him if he were a Democrat! YOU turned this into a political debate about what party has done what. I merely rejoiced in the fact that one more "holier than thou" member of the Conservative Republican party had been caught with his pants down, and we would most likely win the seat. The question, to US, is not what someone did so much, as it is with the desire to cover it up to retain power. THIS is subversive to our form of government. If Hastert DIDN'T know, for the last 5 years, what every page in the '02 class knew.... then HE is either incompetent or complicent. Either way... HE, too, should go!
