Ok I saw this thread and tell me what you think I filled out a app. for this lady that is a contrator for Fed Ex ground and this is the info I got tell me what you think; Team driving 5 to 6 days out with 1.5 to 2 days home a week, .30 to.35 a mile and miles split between the 2, no benefits! I'm still new at this just with 7 months local experience, just thinking do it for 6 months and move on and its 1099. What do you think?

No shit sherlock. Did you actually bother reading what I wrote? Do you even know what "floor loaded" means? :roll:

And yes, they do pickup palletized freight. When it arrives at the hub it has to be broken down tho.

Those are pauper wages dude. I would run away from a deal like that. But if you are only going to do it for 6 months than it might be OK. The experience of pulling doubles will help you land an LTL job where you will START at .50 cpm and top-out at around .57 cpm with full benefits for you and your family at little cost to you.

Ya I guess its a start but she said only the miles were split and the cpm was .30 to .40 but I would start out around .30 to .35 does that sound right? I guess its better then going to big company and take the chances of getting F@*K I think I might have a better chance this way.

If everyone would just get the point, people come here for advice and real experience on certain segments of the industry, and not a lecture on staying away from OTR, Linehaul, LTL, etc!

Some folks, have great family lives, and making a good living is high on the whole families list of priorities, thus, maybe a OTR run fits the bill, sometimes not!

I personally would not work for a union outfit, it just does not fit into my makeup! But others, would rather be told, when, where, how, and if you do not like it, too bad, that is how the union boss says it will be done! Independent minded people do not fit into that segment of the industry! I hate paying insurance, to protect myself from other dipsticks, so I darn sure could see paying union dues, which pay some stiff suits salary to sit on their rears. But that is me, and not everyone!

So let's make a deal! When someone wants advice on one segment on the other, if there is something to contribute, good or bad - but truthful, by all means share. If giving some advice regarding a local or LTL deal that may fit into this persons lifestyle, then give it! But let's stop slamming one part of the industry over the other, because they are all interelated, and one cannot exist without the other!

I know, this will not last, but there is always hope! Have a nice evening! :?

Would not mind running to Cali once again, maybe the Sacremento area!! :wink: :twisted: Just kiddin'!

I read what you wrote. Apparently we have different definitions of floor loaded :roll:

And yes, they do pickup palletized freight. Will he be hauling this in the doubles in the OTR team fleet? No. They send the 48's and 53's to get it from the big customers and sort it at the hub.

Sbatson, I saw your post in here and I'm pretty much doing the same as you, but dang .35/mile split? Is that right? Sounds prettty low, I'm gonna be gettin .45/mile split, 100% d/h. So I dont know do what you do but that sounds pretty low for a team to split. BOL.

Hey wimpy this is the way she told me was I would get .30 to .35 cpm and the other driver gets what he gets and we split the miles not the pay, does that sound right? Shye said I would be with a trainer but hell its team driving so I dont care.

Does that sound right guys that she would pay me say .35cpm and pay th other driver say .40 and we split the miles?
