I will update later! I am going to pick up my husband this morning. He was stuck on the other side of the passes since Friday  They finally opened the pass this morning and he was able to get through!

I started reading your threads the other night after doing a google search for May Trucking, because my husband just started at May. Anyway, I was so intrigued, I couldn't stop reading. LOL

I'm sorry about all your husbands trials and tribulations with his new career path. I hope things start looking better for you guys and your family. Life is a highway, there are potholes in everywhere, but look ahead to the freshly paved.

After only 1 week with an awesome trainer, my husbands first solo week out, he had to throw chains at Siskiyou Summit, dealt with some other crabby May drivers that think they know it all, and tonight he witnessed a carjacking, at Ernie's in Moses Lake of all places. Nothing else major though. He, just like Iceman, was ready to call it quits the other night in Brooks after dealing with the night/weekend dispatch and the 3 other rude May drivers. After talking to me, his trainer and eventually his DM, he calmed down.

Anyway, I haven't gotten to read the Davis thread yet, but I will. I just wanted to give you might warm wishes, so I had to track you down on the new thread. This is definitely a thread I am going to be reading daily!!

That sucks being stuck because of the pass closures. I have been super lucky in that the last couple of times I have crossed, chains were just advised and shortly after going over they would close the pass. Glad he is at home now.

Alright I am going to attempt to update this thread again. My son came in and X'd out instead of minimizing my last update  It was a long one too!

Last week

Monday
I took my husband in bright and early as usual so he could finish his drop in Spokane.
Monday evening after my son got home from karate I borrowed his Honda so I could go shopping. I knew something was not right with my minivan as it has AWD as does my son's Honda CRV but my minivan could not make it up our driveway even though my son's CRV could!

On the way back from shopping I went to move my car at the fire station so they would see it was not an abandoned vehicle. When I went to move it there was zero power steering  I managed to move it a few spaces but I felt it on Tuesday and Wednesday! It took a great deal of strength.

After my husband finished his drops I believe he went back to Kent Washington. My computer kept shutting off last week and erased most of the information on the trips that I had been keeping track of.

Tuesday
My husband picked up I believe near the Canadian boarder and went down to Oregon with this load ending in Spokane. He received an over weight ticket at the Cascade scales down in Oregon for being 880 lbs over. The load he had was not over but he got the ticket for his tag axles being over.
He said the Dot officer was nice and said he would usually just write a warning but since System had so many over weight citations he had to write him a ticket. The ticket was for $47.00 and System said they would take care of it. He put it in with his trip packet.

Wednesday
The tow truck was there picking up my car when my husband called and asked if I could come get him. He got a load due to go to Kent Washington but it was not due to be there until Friday.

My belt had slipped off and there was a chunk of ice on one of the wheels due to a hose that was broken.

My step dad was with me and he went and picked my husband up and brought him home so he could be there for the evening.

Thursday

I borrowed my son's car that day. I took my kids to school and then I dropped my husband off at the yard. What a pain there was Swift truck that was stuck by the parking lot at the truck stop and it took us about 40 minutes to get from the freeway to the yard. It was maybe a mile away.

After I dropped my husband off he had fun! NOT! He left the yard and there was another accident on the freeway which slowed down traffic then he had a tire blow out on his trailer so he had to turn around and go back to the yard to get it fixed.

Thursday night was awesome as I went and watched my son test for his brown belt. They also made the announcement that my son was the first official person in leadership and now he has a title which is Kohi! It was a very proud moment for me.

My minivan was fixed but my step dad had said that the back was still making a noise. I asked him to keep it and check it out before bringing it back (the shop was in Rathdrum close to them).

Friday

I got the news that my back axle was broken on the minivan and my husband got the news that he would not be coming home because all of the passes were closed. He missed the girls play that they did on Saturday and he was bummed out about that one

Saturday I found a cat that had been coming around for the past two years and stayed in my garage this winter. He was a beautiful calico cat with big green eyes. I always fed him out on the back porch I would always see his face starring in the window. One night I saw him but fell asleep earlier in the week. I had my son check the garage for him. He was to nervous to come in and never let me even pet him.

Anyway he went down by the bottom of the road and when the snow began melting I found his body. He had jumped into soft high snow and could not get out  My girl cats will miss him!

This is last weeks update and tomorrow I will attempt to update for this week.

I have to agree with MBA that when someone is in the middle of bad conditions it may not be the best time to say hey I am happy and glad I am not you! Kind of like if you are boarding up for a hurricane I should not say how wonderful life is for me at that moment.

As far as 85 degree weather in Feb I would not want it. I actually enjoy the change of seasons. I grew up in Southern California and I can handle the winter vs earthquakes and smog any day.

I just wish I had the proper things that we need to handle such conditions it would make life so much easier

Are you in the part of Florida that gets really humid? Now that I could not handle! Heat and humidity just drain me. I have never been to Florida but I also have heard that there are big bugs down there too!

I am glad you like were you live I still would not move or leave here. I love it up here. Just have to take the good with the bad and have the right equipment and be prepared!

Hey I don't need that much sunshine in February and forget the movie stars too! I just need a truck with a snow plow for plowing our driveway, and maybe down the road a newer vehicle that does not have 160 thousand miles on it !

There is good and bad no matter were you live! It was a rough few weeks though but hey we made it through!

Thanks for the support

Welcome to thread and thank you for your encouragement and support! I hope things go better for your husband! My husband said he has chaining up down and it goes pretty fast now! He still does not like it but I think if he had to put up a side kit or chain I think he would rather chain.

Life has good and bad ups and downs hopefully more ups and good that downs and bad. We just take it a day at a time. I hope your husband begins to have more good than bad with May. It is best to stay with a company for at least six month to a year if you possibly can when you are new.

Keep us updated on how things are going for him. I know it is an adjustment for everyone when they are OTR.

Hugs back at you!

It was a bummer especially with all three passes closed! My girls participated in the Missoula's Children theater play on Saturday and he had to miss it  I am going to buy a DVD of their production so he can watch it.

Glad you have had the luck this year! Last year my husband never had to chain but he was not going back and forth over those areas as much. I guess it is the nature of the beast!
