I contributed to our safestat demise today. Got a "level 2 hazmat check" at the Ga weigh station on I 85 North of Atlanta. All they could find was a placard obscured by the placard holder on the side and one on the back that wasn't perfectly vertical. I fixed the side ones with my seal cutters right in front of Barney Fife but he still wrote it up. This was a dedicated trailer that gets top loaded and the placards stay on it permanately.
I have heard from some differant people that Ga. has said. To stop with the warning tickets and just go for the money. They have a budget shortfall and have instructed all Barney Fife's to wright as many money tickets as possiable and not issue any warnings. To help releave said shortfall. So if any of you have been around the loop in Atlanta latley you should have seen Barney and his buddies working it hard very hard and not just Cobb County. I went from I-75 to I-20 last week and counted 19 super troopers working there tails off and I didnt count Cobb county. Driver told me he lives in area and for a week they have been telling everyone to be good on the loop as enforcement has been steped up and no warnings all tickets. We all know who will be the ones helping fund there budget........:hellno:

The truth is this is a dedicated trailer and the placards have been on it for years. They never come off as the tank is top loaded and never cleaned. Would you have scraped it off and demanded a new one for 1/8 inch off of vertical. This customer ships several loads a week and its 2500 miles round trip. Honestly I was more concerned withtwo bald flat spots on the trailer tires that I had replaced before pulling it. They were bad and more than a couple of drivers pulled that trailer with those tires. What ever happened to ky 24?
Why can't Superior get some nice trucks? If Altom can do it why can't Superior. I'm getting tired of driving an '03 model with five hundred thousand miles on it. Altom, C.T.L., Coal City Cobb, Dana, Enterprise, Heniff, Highway Transport, Miller, and Schneider all have nicer trucks at least in the department of storage and room for the most part. But wait, Superior is getting all of those Prostars! How many times can you hear the excuse that having small-sleeper trucks are because of a weight issue??? Hmmm, all of the above mentioned companies have larger sleepers and also, with the exception of Miller, carry their hoses on the back of the trucks. Seems they have no issues hauling 45,000 lb. of product. I could see if we were contracted to carry 47,000 lb. consistently but Superior isn't. It's all about saving $$$, and I'm sure that with all of the new games being played, er, "rules" they'll save even more when the driver force starts shrinking due to getting tired of the b.s. :lol2:

i agree, the issue seems to be the cheap way out. if they ever start screwing with our idle times when sleeping or waiting for next load, i'll be at a local gas hauler the next day. i have never grossed any where close to max so far, like most trucking companies just a pay check.
