To answer you question, yes, I do miss some aspects of truck driving. Of course, I am looking through a 4 month seperation. I seem to remember the good things. Especially, a steady paycheck. I am thinking about going back to TMC. I left on good terms, so it shouldn't be difficult. I would be a rehire. I do see where they have changed the hiring boundries. I guess I would be Long Haul now. That is where I spent my first six or seven months. I prefer Long Haul. More driving and less tarping and load securement. You get to see more of the country too. I'll see what the next few weeks bring, I may be seeing you out on the road again, soon.

My business isn't going too well. I'm trying to hang on until January, when I hope/expect it to get better. This wasn't as good of a deal as I originally had thought. I was misled. This is a Martial Arts School. I am eligible to test for my 6th Dan in Feb. I hope to make that and it is the main reason I am holding on.

I'm sure they will hire you back. Everybody I know in business right now is struggling. Hopefully February will be there before you know it. Best of luck to you Terry. Jeffro

Terry, there were a couple rehires in orientation, one of them got put in a new 388, so I'm sure you won't have any problems. Just be aware that freigt might not be as good as it was when you left. Between bad roads, OD daylight restrictions, and a general lack of freight, my truck made about $1200 this week.
I heard a driver was killed yesterday in Michigan unloading Griffin Pipe, if this is true, prayers for his family, hate to hear something like this especially this close to Christmas.

To the truck? That is crazy, glad I got out. Terry, good luck to you and sorry things didn't work out. I am booking freight for a company in NH. There are many times when there are 40 trucks up here empty - TMC and everyone is begging to get loads. Sorry to hear about the poor guy with the Griffin pipe. Bless him and his family.

it all started last week, sat in Texas for 5 days, got a load to Iowa Mon, took all day to load and get permits, delayed in OK and KS due to icy roads, customer wanted it there at 8am Wed, I told my fleet manager from the beginning it was not going to happen, someone dropped the ball and the load planner was all pissed because I missed a crane appointment to unload. got there Wed afternoon, no one there, showed up this morning, took all morning to unload me, reloaded out of the same place and dropped the trailer in DSM because I need to get home for Christmas, not go to Texas again, one load so far this week plus about 12% of another one, maybe $150. now I am stuck at the Baymont in an ice storm.
it will be $1200 plus OD charges, look at the bright side! staying out 3 weeks has been more unproductive than if I had just went home, but I will enjoy the time off after Christmas. and enjoy having to dip into my savings to cover daily expenses. I will ride things out because this problem is industrywide, if freight does not pick up around springtime and I am not making at least what I was ealier this year, I will be looking elsewhere, and I not talking trucking. still relatively happy here at TMC, just wish I had more freight to haul. this is all secondhand, but I was told the forklift driver hit the trailer and knocked the pipe off. of all the things we haul that is probably one of the last things you want to be under when it comes off the trailer.

Problem with most of the Griffin pipe unloaders is that they hardly use forklifts because they are construction guys. I had pipes slide into my headache rack many a time..

we got a message from Harrold today saying December's revenue would not count against our certification, good move. I know they are doing everything they can, even resorting to broker loads just to keep us busy. I hope having to deal with CH Robinson is only a temporary measure.

Long time no Post!
Got busy with other stuff, and had not received any updates from the group! Anyhow, would like to wish everyone a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year! Hopefully, a prosperous one! Looks like I have about 30 pages to catch up on some reading! Cheers, The Horseman

Blessings and prayers go out to that poor man and his family. Hope everybody stays safe. Sometimes you never know.
Especially this time of year. Great to hear from both of you Von and CountryHorseman! Glad to hear you are both doing well. Can't say this site has been booming like it once was. Rawlco and carterbeauford have been still posting some awesome info though. Keep faith and everything will get better soon.
