O I forgot the best part of the day!!!!!!

I called my trainer this morn to tell him what was going on and get some advice. He was a little pissed over the whole deal and took it to himself to call my team leader to try and help me some how I guess. He said"There is no reason for this truck to keep causing issues,Its old and been beat down and should be pulled"

The team leader said

"I think the reason it has all the problems is he wants a new truck"

Now to me that means I damaged my truck to try and get another.I must say that pisses me off to the top level of pissed off.I did not make up or cause any damage to my truck period. The only shifty thing I did was try to use a cash bribe in the lexington yard to get them to give me a long nose they had.[It was a joke I know I cant have one]

This is the only reason i have 3 new batteries in this truck, a 1500W inverter directly wired to the batteries...

no more blown fuses, or overloaded circuits.

If I may ask. What is with all of the breakdowns? Tmc's website claims all trucks are "Expertly Maintained" But here guys are getting things fixed more than once or running around in trucks that are "worn out and should be pulled". 400,000 miles on a truck should be nothing. I have driven trucks with 900,000 that were like new. Why is this?

All WHAT breakdowns? :?
One or two guys posting a dozen times out of 3,000 power units?
One has legit (it seems) gripes, one fried his truck with an illegal inverter powering a 5 horse power blow up sex doll.
I had two trucks when I worked for TMC for a year and only once had a bad turbo which was fixed quickly. 8)

Probably not 120K I don't know how many units TMC has in service or how often they re-=new the fleet , But Werner has their Dealers license , and orders about 5k trucks every 3 years in total I don't know what that breaks down to for just Pete , But I do know that every tenth truck produced in Denton Tx is Werners ...And Werner only pays around 53k for a brand new unit ...Run it up to about 250-350k and sell it for about 77-78 k...

Well monday the 387 was taken to local pete dealer and tuesday they sent
another driver to pick me up and drop me in morgantown WV to pick up a short nose left by a driver that quit.It was an 06 with 160K on it.This truck was at a tow yard since the 28th of last month.Well the short story is the trailer was torn to shit with bungies holding the boxes on and all kinds of damage. The tractor would not run,the dash was dead no gauges worked but the speedo would jump all over.It would start but die no matter what. The truck was towed to a pete dealer in uniontown pa.I spent the nite in the dealers lot in the broke down truck and froze my ass off.TMC would not give ok to get a room and there was no place with in walking distance. They gave me back the truck friday at 1pm and said it was good to go.I hookup to the trailer and call up dispatch and while on hold it started to do the same thing all over again.I take it back into shop and call in to TMC.They tell me they are looking for a ride for me be it a car or another TMC driver. At 6pm TMC tells me that if they cant get the truck done by sat am that I could get a car.
Problems....The only place to get a car was and hour away and I had no way to get to them.....If they are working on my truck when they close where am I to sleep? It is cold out and I dont have any camping gear....

I spent a whole week tryn to get this truck. At this point I did not touch one bit of freight.I had a friend drive the 5 hours from philly to pick me up and I just got home.

Hopefully I can add some insight. TMC buys thier trucks based on resale. THey are speced for an owner/op, and lets face it a yellow monster under the hood will sell. Cats are not the most $ for $ economical engine, not the best fuel mileage engine, they castrate them power wise, so its not that, and they let them go with aprox 375 on the clock, so its not longevity either. TMC does have a dealer license, through its connection to Allstate Pete.

But as Fred said, its hard not to have trouble when you have so many trucks, and every manufacturer is cutting corners. My dad has had his Freightliner since it was new, and most of the problems happened early on, it has 840k on the clock, and is running good. When I joined with TMC in Jan 07, I came over with almost 5 years experience. I started with a brand new shortnose (they are 378's, not 379's that they claim) I did have problems with it, but some was design(turbo came apart), and some was build (a/c lines misrouted) I put aprox 50k on it. I now switched over to a T800, because I hated the short nose sleeper layout.

I have yet to have any problems. I am on a dedicated account and yank a conestoga around. Years ago I worked for Ford, and saw numerous vehicles with some problems, and some that were great.

IF YOU THINK THESE TRUCKS ARE MADE TMC CHEAP, YOUR CRAZY!

Tmc has ran Freightliners, KW's, Pete's, and I believe a Volvo or two. Downtime costs money. Why would TMC want a bunch of broken down junk, because they spec cheap? The line keeps moving, and there isnt enough time to use a cheap part. besides if they are build cheap, Pete will have additional warranty claims, and i doubt they will take it in the rear since TMC so called wants a cheap truck.

This is America! A race to the bottom. Lets make it cheaper.

I do see some of the above "messes" and its not fun, but its part of the job. I sat in a broke down truck for 3 days waiting for a turbo, yet the same people bounced me 500 miles home when my dad had a heart attack. Give it time. Your only shooting yourself in the foot.

Winter is slow for flatbedding, its slow on dedicated for us too, but it gets much better, just give it time. If you feel your not getting anywhere with your fleet manager, and cant work it out, switch to another. BUT give it time, these guys that say they have had 3 FM's in a month, are usually thier own problem, the FM"s should have the right to "fire" them.

I'm wandering how you tell a 379 from a 378?
