Plus you don't have to climb all over dirty trailers and throw tarps in the rain, snow, wind, cold, heat, etc. Millis is a good company and I would work van over flatbed for the same money or even a little less.
If you can get $0.35 pulling a box at 2,500 miles per week that is $875 per week. If I got $875 gross in my paycheck pulling TMC flatbed I either took a Monday off, broke down, or my Fleet Manager is having a death wish.

I can't argue a bit about the weather. Me, I couldn't do van. Just personal preference.

How often is the TMC website updated with the latest ?

I wish I took notes while going through the 174 pages, but I think I read something about TMC bought a company that runs near Portland Oregon ??
so does that might mean TMC may have a dedicated run On this side of the map?

I am seeing more and more TMC trucks over here, so I am very interested.

I took 3 weeks off before looking after leaving Sherman Bro's which now has turned into 6 months 8) , so will I need to take the refresher course ? and how much will it cost if I do?

Side note: I am running low on minutes on my phone so I need to ask as much as I can here online

(not sure that sounded as I meant it to sound like

When I started driving I found out that weekends in the trucking world meant just 34 hours off . . I like my time off, I work to live. So I like my whole weekend off, not just half and one night in my bed, 2 nights yes

I am also guessing that the 2 days off after 14 on, may not actually be on the weekend ??

With my particular situation, on Long Haul, I get home every 2nd weekend (great fleet manager), usually get in sometime on Friday and usually do not leave the house until early Monday morning. Sometimes I will leave Sunday night when delivering in the valley, since I know I will bounce to Laredo and want to make sure I have enough hours to get out of there the same day. So being out 11 -12 days, I have always had at minimum 48 hours at home. We have the option to stay out more of less. Typically they try to get you home on the weekend, but there will be times your days of may be during the week, although it seems to be rare.

The public website is not updated very often that I can tell, except for maybe the company news. TMC purchased Yellowstone awhile back, which I believe ran allot of West Coast. The best way to verify particular dedicated runs is to contact the recruiting office.

As far as the refresher, depending on your actually and verifiable prior experience, at worse you may have to spend a few weeks with a trainer.

No problem on asking questions here, that is what the forum is for, several of us, myself included will give it to you straight. But sometimes you have to wade through the BS.

Good Luck

Where did you hear that? I was redoing a Train the Trainer class in DSM and all the SC people were part of the presentation.
That was something that Joe said during TQM a couple of weeks back. I am sure they still run trainers out of there, just that the newbie orientations were suppose to all be done at DM. Could have heard him wrong, but pretty sure that is what he said. Also, when I went through orientation, that were several guys that I spoke to throughout the week from the SC, NC, VA, GA, and WV area that said they would not let them do orientation in SC since they were fresh out of school.

Very interesting. I guess it all coincides with the purchase of the old Schneider terminal in Ankiney. for the purpose of expanding the training areas.

The company is headed in the right direction as far as training is concerned. The use of simulators, a new facility with more than adequate yard space, and the expanded Train the Trainer program.

Trainers are now required to spend 4 days in DSM. 1 day classroom, the rest of the time with new hires while they are learning securement, driving, and doing yard training. That way there is a continuity of training standards and not the SC way or the DSM way. I didn't get the rest of three days as I had a trainee with me.

I was also quite impressed with the thoroughness during my full service, They even washed the truck for me.

I just had the new lane control device installed in my truck. it is designed to burp at you through a set of speakers if you start to cross a painted line, At first I was annoyed and skeptical: another new gizmo. It actually works...and is a lot more effective and accurate than the bridge and sign detecting Vorad.

The DM shop is pretty thorough, they have too many eyes watching for someone to foul up.

Did anyone say whether or not the got past the EPA issue with the Ankiney yard, was something to do with a ruptured fuel tank on the property and unground contamination that had stalled the final closing on the deal. Hope so, they really do need a larger training area for students to practice backing and negotiating turns with the spread axle. We did 4 days classroom and 4 nights with trainees when I was Stevens getting the Trainer Certification. So it looks like TMC is moving up their requirements, good thing.

Do they pay daily average while doing that extra Driver Trainer stuff? Would hate to go through that and not get paid!

VORAD pretty much gets ingnored in my truck anymore, except when it turns the jakes on while going up a hill, stupid thing. An I guess the rumor was that all trucks now will be outfitted with that lane departure gizmo, have some that like it, some that hate it, and some that forget the thing is in there.

They will be paying your average daily rate for the extended training.

Does anyone have the e-mail address of Joe - the instructor for TQM? If so please send it too me by PM or e-mail. Would not want it posted on the list. I have an idea to bounce off of him before presenting it to management.

Thanks
