I loaded Alfalfa few days back that I thought was going to be way over. 4x8 bales are typically over 2000# each. I knew I would not cross any scales, but was still not happy about it. Turned out I was 800# under gross.
 I have been cursed by this PFT trailer all week, thus the weight concerns.Being over-axle in Louisiana is no big deal for the most part. Most all of them will let you shift weight, and if you make an honest effort will log it and let you go, otherwise I had never paid a fine over $40.00 (1200# over tandem) while running pneumatics. Another good thing about Louisiana, is once they fine you at one scale, you are cleared across the rest of them. Unlike Texas or some other states, they will write you a ticket each time, if they even let you move while overweight. Some states will make you unload or have to pay someone to come out and move the weight legal for you. I just make sure if they want me to run it that way, the send it on the Qualcomm. There are some places I cannot afford to pay an over-gross ticket.

Tried again and got it lowered to 300 lbs. Maybe it was within their tolerance or he could see that I would try all day long, but he said to move on out. Didn't get stopped anywhere else and made delivery on time.

Horseman...Great to finally meet you. I look forward to more time to talk. Fridays I am usually in a hurry to get home myself. Luckily for me the tire guy showed up and you moved because I had a flat on the trailer that I picked up.

Well I am at home again, for a few more hours at least. I spent three weeks out this time, so that I would be home on my 5th anniversary. My wife is going out for a couple weeks this trip, and I have a preplan for picking up in the morning at lisbon falls, me, destination San Antonio, TX for Thursday at 8am, 2281 miles door to door. Gotta run and get some sleep.
Had fun this week in the Northeast. Delivered in Allentown Monday, 3 stops of plastic pipe scattered between there and DOWNTOWN Boston for Tuesday, then a Lowe's Westfield run to Newton NJ, Got halfway to Schenectady before my load cancelled so I picked up at Buchanan NY for Allentown again, then Woburn MA, and deadhead home empty Friday. CSR apparently ignored my request for the home depot Norwood MA to Bangor ME run Friday for Saturday, that paid $700 on 258 miles that I had to run anyway to get home.

I will say this about my time with TMC. I like TMC, I like their philosophy, I like the work, and I like the way things work for the most part, BUT I will not be with TMC forever. Trucking is not a permanent career choice, just a stepping stone on the path of life for me, and I predict that at some point in the next 2 years I will leave TMC, either to work locally, or at something other than flatbedding, or in something else entirely. It will probably happen when TMC ticks me off someday, but it may not be TMC's fault.
I like what I do, and where I do it, but it isn't the last thing I want to do with my life, and I think a lot of people realize the same thing about trucking after they get into it and the newness wears off. The only difference is that the newness wears off for some people faster than others.

I like the way you put it, very well said, and the sentiments of many! Just some cannot figure that out, and when someone leaves, oh my, the end is near.
Have a good one and enjoy your time on the road with the other half. Would love to bring mine out with me, but with a 2 1/2 year old, the rules will not allow it, oh well. He is high speed also, would enjoy being in Daddy's truck for a little while, but would get cabin fever real quick. Take care Rawlco, I just left home(San Antonio) this morning for AZ. With any luck, my FM is trying to get me to DM this weekend for TQM.

My average gross a week is just under a $1000 a week with about 2500 miles a week. No need to run 4000 miles a week to make a decent living.

As a driver that had more than a couple of years experience in various segments of the industry, before deciding to try TMC out, my eyes were and still are wide open at the pro's and con's of this fleet. No where in any of my post have you scene that I plan to retire with TMC, nor have I stated that TMC was perfect. They are like any other fleet in the industry. The difference between you and me, is that I take care of business, do it legally (reguardless of what the planners say), and do it safely! If I have an issue, I have no problem discussing it with the correct people, and not whining continuously on the forum. Will I not ever say anything bad about TMC, hmm, maybe - but if I do, it will be done objectively, and the facts stated as such, and not making up garbage, that never happened. TMC was not a fit for you, and thus you have moved on to what you see as greener pastures. Good luck to ya! Personally, TMC will probably be my choice for about the next year or so, depending on frieght and such, but at some point I plan to purchase my own truck (no, not through TMC) and do my own thing. When will that happen, who knows, only time will tell. I can tell you at this point, I am making good money doing what I am doing, and I have gotten home when I have wanted to get home. Will a week come along when I am in the wrong part of the country to make it home on Friday, yup, that is guaranteed, so be it, I do not mind getting home during the week. Advantage of Long Hual, we get full days at home and not just 34 or 40 hours. Have fun DS, and enjoy the green grass while it last! Maybe another 4 to 6 months, I would guess. countryhorseman, so glad things are working out for you
However things did not go so well for hubby. He is no longer working at TMC, I wont say what happend because I know that TMC reads these posts and all. Anyway good luck to you and your family, it was nice to "meet" you. I'll still come back and read to see how things are going, just to keep up with ya LOL. By the way, how is your buddy doing? havent heard much from him on the boards for a while?
