E2 is a classification for the experienced drivers - basically is means experienced, but no flatbed and will spend 1 weeks in DM for orientation and load securement and 2 weeks out with a trainer.
The other classification for experienced would be E0 (3 days at DM, no trainer), and then E4 (1 week DM, 4 weeks with trainer due to limited road experience).
Trainees straight out of school are A6 - they spend 2 weeks at DM and 6 weeks on the road with a trainer.

There had been an error in the computer when I got here, that had me classified as an E4. Randy (Instructor) recieved clarifification from the recruiter Monday evening, plus doing well on the driving test showed that I should have been an E2. Had I had previous flatbed experience, I would have been an E0.

countryhorseman, you are in the same class with David. He said things were moving right along. I wish you all luck, and with any luck he will be able to get with a trainer soon after orientation and will not have to come home on the bus LOL. BTW, how was your bus experiance? ask David about his LOL :shock:

 

Not exactly sure of the Name Ford-It was a huge almost resort area. I liked White's in Raphine(sp) but it usually got pretty crowded and I liked a little Peace and Quiet and that area in Beckley was it for me.
It was a pretty spot-Also used to have some good Breakfast's in Hurricane

after thinking about it a bit I think it was the Tamarack

 

Thanks, we hooked up at breakfast this morning and had a good conversation, also at lunch. David is the one that MDII and I thought, great to know.

Things are going well for all of us, MDII and I found out this A.M. from the OK and TX handler who our trainers would be, so both of us will be headin to the house after class on Friday. The company will provide a rental car so we can get home quicker.

He also said that is standard procedure (rental car) for most drivers that need to go home to meet up with the trainer. They try to put 2 or 3 guys going in the same direction per car, so I seriously doubt he will have to take the 42 ft cabover (Greyhound) back home.

well the rental car sounds a lot better then the bus. one question tho, who pays for the gas? I dont know anything about how many miles it is to Texas from Iowa but I do know that where we live in WV is close to 1000 miles. Gas $3.00 a gal, it will take quite a bit of $$ to get home.

 

From what I currently understand, TMC pays for the rental and fuel. Now the driver(s) may have to submit receipts for reimbursement, but TMC pays the expense for the drivers to get home as quick as possible.

My trip home is about the same as David's, around 1000 miles depending on route selection.

 

My husband found out who his trainer is today , only catch is he's 160 or so miles away. Not a big deal, just was wondering how TMC would approach the weekends home with that kind of situation? Anybody been there who knows, or anybody just know :lol:
His trainer is an O/O, and drives a 10 speed, not the 13. Says he tries to get home most every weekend. Just wondering if we would be responsible for still getting him home at that point or if TMC would help in some way, or pay for hotel there?

From what I understand, from the paperwork we submitted Monday. That designated what we were able to do, in regards to meeting a trainer, is the TMC will pay the driver $0.10/mile that needs to be driven to meet a trainer. So 160 miles, TMC would pay $16.00 for fuel cost, round trip would be $32.00.
My guess would be that depending on the trainer, and the routing taken to the trainers house, is he may be agreeable to drop him off at a location closer to home. Lots of variable there. I am sure MDII and the trainer can work something out. If not, 160 miles is only about 2 1/2 hours driver by car. In my part of the woods, that can be a drive to the grocery store. (not really, but its doable)
