about the shirts, as long as you are well groomed/clean and all that you're fine. i wear t-shirts on most days, and sometimes even shorts. it's all about getting you in, and out of the place asap, so they don't really bother you about your attire a lot. of course if it's a place that enforces the safety gear, than you'd have to put on a long sleeve and hardhat, safety glasses, and some places even the reflective vest. it's all about the companies rules.

Just put on a flannel "jacket" that is very lightweight. It's usually a buttoned down shirt that is just slightly too big for me but not so large that it causes problems. I wear them all the time in the cooler months and have no problems strapping down loads or the works.

Figure on being full safety if you ever deliver to a construction site, some of those places will not let you on the property without full OSHA approved safety gear. Full safety gear is what BoyNextDoor said above with the addition of long pants(jeans) and steel toe boots. Even in the friggin summer months OSHA will bust people for not wearing long sleeves and long pants, especially if it's a rookie inspector.

 

well hmm this could get ugly. oh well. ill do what they say to the best of my ability. i dnt wear anything but jeans and boots anyway so that isnt too bad. i just dont wear long sleeves or own any! guess its time to save up n buy some!

It's usually "old hat" to have at least one pair of long pants, 1 long-sleeved shirt, and a pair of close-toed shoes in the truck with you. There are a growing number of customers that will not allow you on the yard unless you are suitably attired in the above-noted clothing.

 

The O/O hopefully has a CLC card that can put him in a hotel for the weekend. Anything over 150 miles enables the trainee to stay in a hotel. If your husband would like to go home, it is at his option to drive home. Hope that helps and good luck.

well hubby called and is on his way home! I cannot wait to see him, even tho he will not be here till around 3am Hope he is not too tired :wink: . His phone only had 10 min left on it (tracfone) so I could not get all the details of when he meets up with a trainer. Our 6 year old son will be so happy to see his daddy! Today was his b-day but his party will not be till Sunday ( i was hoping that daddy would make it home by then) and he will be so excited! Anyway, thats all for now, I'll post more when I know more.

I chose to work this sunday in order to be home early friday. I have a preloaded trailer of sheetrock waiting for me in Rotan, Tx going to San Antonio.

I wanted to add to the attire comment. Most days I wear jeans, t-shirts, and steel toed tennis shoes. Sometimes I wear a sleeveless shirt when it's hot. I have a long sleeve shirt in the bunk for when it's needed.
Keep your hard hat and safety vest right behind your seat. I have found a few places....mostly jobsites.... that expect you to have them on when you get out of the truck. Usually when the rules are strickly enforced it's posted on a sign and sometimes it's in the consignee comments with the load info.
