Although I have experience at other companies, I have been looking very heavily lately for a fleet to make a home. Having analyze and scrutinize many companies over the last couple of months, I settled on applying for TMC. They have put their hometime policies in writing, there pay schedules are above average (not the highest, but above average) - pay is greatly influenced by your work ethic, motivation and desire to succeed (maybe those are all the same, hmm). They offer both mileage and percentage, the choice is yours. They have several fleet options, that coincide with hometime options. As you said, I have spoken with many TMC drivers on the road, and probably 95% are happy with the program they are on. You cannot beat the equipment, top notch and well maintained (tractors and trailers). The Safe-stat record leaves a little to be desired, but I believe they have greatly turned that around. As a fleet that trains allot of new drivers, you will constantly have those that will never be happy, no matter what fleet they are at, for many of those, holding a steering wheel was a last ditch effort before flippin' burgers at the local choke and puke. I did some training with another fleet that I hauled for at their yard. We could pretty much pick the ones that had the desire to succeed, and the ones that were there just because someone said they could be a truck driver and get free training. With some prayer and luck, my application should be approved in the next couple of days, and will be on the way to DM within a week or so. Good Luck with your decision, Louis I think you'll do FINE at TMC. You seem to have "what it takes". Good luck to ya!

WOW, all I can say is WOW.
From what I have seen, you have a driver at TMC that had specific issues with the company. Then the pro-tmc crowd lead by goldies started in with direct insults trying to elicit a confrontation which was successful. I am not sure exactly what the response was, but it is obvious that it was a direct result of the statements made by goldies based on the quotes that the poster had made. Then to add fuel to the fire, goldies threatened to have the poster banned by his IP. As soon as the poster took the bait, goldies did not hesitate to run to a mod and have the poster banned. I have no idea what the poster said, but as I said, it is obvious that he was not the only party that should share responsibility. I am concerned that free speach can be suppressed on a public forum. Congratualtions to goldies and the pro-tmc camp, you have demonstrated exactly what the corporate mindset is in the US today. If you do not fit in with the program, you will be shuffeled to the door. An update on my current situation, and I am sure all of my fans will enjoy saying I am lying. I am currently on an extended leave of abscence from driving. I turned the truck in last Thursday, with the understanding that I have a job waiting on me when ever I choose to return. The reason I am on a leave is that I am pursuing a dream. I am very fortunate to have been the benefactor of $61,471 in poker winnings this past week. $49,471 was from winning the bad beat jackpot at Harrah's in Kansas City MO, the other $12,000 was from winning a qualifier on Poker Stars for a seat to the 2007 WSOP Main Event though a $16 qualifier. So to all of you TMC fan's, my new motto: DESTINATION PERMANENT VACATION I have no ill will towards TMC as I would have never found the company that I am at now. If I were not on that load from WV to KC I would not have been sitting on the table when my quad 3s were beat by quad 7s. I have always followed the path in life that presents it self. Things happen for a reason. I still stand behind what I said about TMC. It is a large company that has several issues. For me it was not a company that I would want to work for, hence the reason I left. I would not recommend TMC to anyone based on my experience as I feel there are better options. But everyone in life has different levels of control that they are willing to accept. As the song says, " There aint no easy run ". If my statements offend any of the TMC camp and i am banned, then I leave knowing this. I took the path less traveled, and that has made all the difference.

Are you going to Vegas for the WSOP? I'm not much into poker but I love to gamble and love Vegas so goodluck with that. I read your post and I guess I would like to offer some friendly advice to help your situation. If you ask for time off from a company, they give you 30 days and after that they have to techinally terminate your employment (it's not firing you). If you come back to the company b4 the 30 days, they Re-instate you. If it's after the 30 days, they Re-hire you. Do everything you can to get back within the 30 days because you get your benefits back, etc. If it's after 30 days, most companies file a DAC report and when you get rehired, you start from scratch. I'm just trying to save you from that DAC report, sure it wouldn't be anything bad, it's just that you don't want another one added to the list. I know where your side of things are with TMC so I'm not disputing that. Obviously I'm Pro-TMC for a reason but just understand that there are a lot of students on this board with no experience. They are limited to where they can go and I would say TMC and some others out (ex Maverick, Roehl, etc.) are solid companies. No place is perfect as you know but we try by offering above average things, ex. good hometime, equip, pay. Let me ask this, the company you're at, do they hire students? If so, I recommend putting it out there so we can add another to the good list and help people on these boards make a good choice. I'm the first to admit that TMC isn't for everyone and flatbedding especially. It's worth a solid look for those interested in Flatbedding though. Good luck with the WSOP. Good Luck

The best anyone can tell, the guy did not work for TMC at all, look up his profile and it was created on the same day the wise cracks started, his occupation on his profile states, "stupid driver", and no other real information. The only post that profile had made was to the TMC list, which appeared to be CB B.S. Reading these forums, is much like listening to channel 19 - some of it is true, some of it is pure B.S., hopefully the majority that reads these forums can distinguish the difference. I have state many times, trucking is what you make of it! Again, good luck in Vegas, keep us up-to-date. Louis

TMC,
Thank you for the encouragement. Yes I am going to play in the $10,000 World Series Of Poker Main Event. The same tournament that made poker explode 4 years ago with Chris Moneymaker. I appreciate what you have said regarding my DAC. I have no doubt that you are familiar with the company that I moved to as they are based out of Des Moines. They require 2 years experience so it is not an option for a new driver entering the industry. They are primarliy flatbed but they do opperate some vans, their equipement is all blue peterbilts, I am sure that will tell you exactly who they are. They are an incredible place to work for, as about as good of a fit for what I am looking for as I could ever hope to find. My personal opinion based on the experience I have had, and talking with drivers that have worked for TMC at different points through the years, the major issue that TMC is facing is the buisness model that they have adopted. It is great for the shareholders and owners, but can create a not so ideal environement for the drivers. TMC is not so much the issue as it is the industry as a whole. I have been told that TMC was an incredible place to work for not so long ago, so I am sure most of what I delt with was the grown pains. I will also be the first to admit, that I prefer to work for a smaller company like where I am at now. 85 company trucks is more then enough. I feel that I am part of a family there, and when the owner shook my hand to wish me luck and said that I always had a home with them, that meant alot. Be safe drivers.

Good luck to you Buzz and the only reason why I took issue with the now banned poster was because he was either
A- A NON driver for TMC or B- A current CAD poster (possibly like yourself) who had a bad rub with TMC and elected to post under a fictitious "handle" in an attempt to hide his true identity. Either way, those are "no-no's" in my book. That, combined with his poor attitude and outright lies about TMC is what got him banned, not me. If he wanted to talk $hit, he deserves what he got.

I have never even read any of this thread until yesterday and I have had no exchange with any of the regulars here. I just happen to pop in. Lucky thing I did because posters like this are not wanted here. Ridge
