Harry would climb out of the car after a hot humid race at Dover with a big smile on his face, looking like he had been on a Sunday joy ride.

Everyone else would be wiped out, taking oxygen, and pouring water on themselves.

When asked if the heat bothered him, he would answer "Naw, this is no worse than putting a roof on a house, which I'm going to do tomorrow".

If I needed a good driver that wouldn't tear stuff up but still finish strong, Harry Gant was who I would get. He was such a clean racer, Mr. Clean himself had nothing on him. You could bounce off him a few times on purpose and he would still drive around you like you hadn't touched him. Always did his best to keep his nose clean.

Anybody watch Speed Channel tonight with Kenny Schrader-Mikey-Gilliland, and Mark Martin?

MW was just Ripping Jr. and wouldn't let up-Every time he stopped and let somebody else say something he was back to ripping Jr.
There is NO love lost between Mike and Jr.

Didn't catch it but, that's not true, Mikey is still hopping mad that he got busted for trying to coat his manifold with a banned substance that can allow you to run faster. Think Nitrous, 500 miles worth of it. Teams used to do that exact trick and still do it today, Mikey's guys just didn't do a good job of hiding it and got busted. Why would you have oil in you manifold before qualifying?? He hadn't even started the car and turned the engine over when it was found. He's getting to be like Darrell, a whiny poor sport when things don't go his way. Guess if he fails to get one of the 2 transfer spots on Thursday he will blame it on Junior too.

And 4 crew chiefs bite the dust. All of Evernham's guys have been suspended, Kahne, Sadler and Riggs. Kahne was busted for having an air duct hole on the rear duct taped. NASCAR rules for qualifying state that those air duct holes must be sealed off permanently with caps. Duct tape does not seal it permanently by NASCAR standards. Riggs and Sadler had holes that were drilled in the fastener that hold the spoiler to the deck lid of the cars to help leak air out of the trunk area and create an aerodynamic advantage. Kenseth lost his crew chief for having the same problem only his holes were not even attempted to be sealed with the NASCAR spec'd caps.

Kenseth and Kahne: Daytona 500 and 3 additional races, $50,000, 50 driver points and 50 owner points

Sadler and Riggs: Daytona 500 and 1 additional race, $25,000, 25 driver points and 25 owner points.

Still awaiting the fate of Mikey. It is being said by old-timers and current engine guru's that he had Sterno in there. The way to avoid being caught is to put it in, kinda like PAM, and then paint over it. By painting over it, you hide it if done properly and it will burn off instantly as soon as the engine gets nice and warm. The Sterno will then give a boost of horsepower and stay there for a LONG time. How do they know, prolly because every single car has it only Mikey's guys didn't do a good job of hiding it. Mikey is facing a tougher penalty, points, fine and missing the Daytona 500.

I do not like this penalizing of a team for one upping NASCAR. It is what racing was built on. What stops these teams from cheating?? Why not cheat, if you don't get caught it could win you a race. If you do, the money you pay out goes into a kiddy. At the season ending awards banquet, all the penalty money aquired thru the season is dispersed evenly among the teams. The more cheating, the more money in the kiddy to be given out. These guys get their money back.

OUCH, Mikey is lucky he only got a swift kick in the butt instead of being benched.

$100K fine to the crew chief
100 points loss of driver and owner points

NASCAR will not say exactly what it was but rumor is that it was jet fuel additives. They only said that the fuel was mixed with an alcohol additive and are leaving it at that. They found it before qualifying and let the team change the manifold and then found the same after qualifying which means that whatever it was, was in the fuel tank itself.
