Solo, I haven't heard of it being law that you carry the actual lease contract in the truck, but I do know you need a single sheet lease agreement. I keep that with my permits and all that stuff. I do keep a contract with me though... that badboy is like 56 pages long. No joke!

I never read the blog but if you were posting your numbers and the places you were hauling out of, I can see where your company would have problem with that.
Just a little extra math and some one could come in and beat the rate just enough to get some work.

Did you find some work till you get on with a carrier?

I had to delete the blog ... didn't want to ***s off my former employer too much because I needed their references to apply to ...Landstar! Did the application a couple of weeks ago, and now Landstar got all the paperwork out of the way (and the MacKinnon did their part after I sent them an email saying the blog had been erased). You gotta do what you gotta do. Might start a new blog later on if Landstar has nothing against it. Going to do a medical and drug-test this coming Monday. If everything's okay, they say they'll send me to have the truck inspected, and after that it's a 2-day orientation in Hamilton, ON (30 min from where I live). I'll be joining with my own stepdeck trailer, still with a Conestoga on it. Hopefully the rolling tarp won't be in the way of making money. Also found another small family company in Ontario, Canada that hires o/o with own equipment, but they said they had just hired 2 or 3 new guys a couple of months ago, but if things should pick up in the fall they would act on my resume. They specialize in machinery transportation and if Landstar option doesn't work, I'd go with these Canadian guys. I was ready to start a temp driving job, but then Landstar finally called me saying they got all the required references, so I decided not to bother. I've sold half of the stuff in my apartment that I can live for a couple of months without and I'm all ready to put a blue star on my truck and trailer!

Why wouldn't you get your own numbers? Or that's not an option in socialistic Canada?

if by "numbers" you meant "cvor" or "authority", then i didn't get 'em because insurance here is too expensive. don't snub canada, we provide 90% of your imports

Well, Canada is #1 in terms of exports from US. But in terms of imports, China - you're right - is Numero 1; and Canada is #2.
"Main export partners
Canada, 13.2%;
Mexico, 8.3%;
China, 4.3%;
Japan, 3.3%.
Main import partners
China, 15.4%;
Canada, 11.6%;
Mexico, 9.1%;
Japan, 4.9%;
Germany, 3.7%."
