Since you wondered....I have been reading Steve's adventures since I joined into the website.....just like YOU. As to all those wrecks which I saw....Steve...even though he is a "rookie", has not wrecked his equipment, and is now into his second winter of driving. I'll tip my hat to anybody whom is willing to invest their time and money into a new profession, learn as he or she goes along, and doesn't lose the entire deal(whether through bad driving or poor business practices), in the short time he or she, has been working it. Steve still has a decent truck & trailer. He is still learning his new trade. He is obviously paying his bills......or maybe...because this IS the internet..he is just sitting at home...telling us a fairytale. Either way..I don't really care...it's intertaining. Both his adventures..and his detractors. Quit letting the pinheads get to you Steve. This from a charter member of SBFCA.... :lol: :lol: :lol: :lol: :lol: What you do not get is, that it is none of your, mine, or Rev's cotton-pickin business, how Steve runs his business, or what information Steve chooses to post. You claim to own two trucks and that you have a successful business, running those two trucks. Yet, you, like the Rev, spout off and degrade Steve, while providing no "supporting" information, to back up your claims of success, in your business dealings. The two of you, have this huge dislike of Steve, for posting about his travels. That is what is apparent to me. Instead of ridiculing Steve here on his thread, why have you and Rev not started threads of your own, posting what you consider to be the proper way to start,finance and operate successful trucking operations. You especially BD, should be able to get right down to the nitty-gritty, as regards operational advise, since you run 2 trucks, and do so "successfully". You can describe to potential "New" trucking company owners and operators, exactly what difficulties you encounter, and your seccess in dealing with each of those difficulties. THAT would be a better way to counter what you claim Steve does wrong. Rev can enthrall us with stories of being a Owner Operator, whom moves families from point A to point B. He can get right down to that nitty-grtty story, with vivid discriptions of some of the households he enters, as well as the type's of "lumpers" he hires for each job. :lol: :lol: :lol: :lol: None of that is going to happen though !!! :lol: :lol: :lol: :lol:

Time for my once in a blue moon post. ENOUGH!!! You guys all sound like kids fighting in a sandbox. Grow up! I have Been following Steve from his very first post and I have liked his Sagas, Stories and adventures. I have had to questions a few things but so what? I have also followed The Rev and to this I have to say that I think you are lowering yourself by the manner of the comments you leave here. I feel you are better than that Rev. I remember when you were debating with that Dawn character about the HOS and other stuff and you countered all of her supposed knowledge with documented facts and your whole mannerism was different on those threads. I'm am not trying to flame you or anything, I just feel that it is beneath you to continue this way with the catty comments. I know it's a message board and all, people are free to express themselves, I guess that after all this time, it's just getting alittle dissapointing. Rant done.
I appreciate Everyone who does bother to post their experiences good or bad on this board. It has kept me from making some very bad decisions regarding my career. I wish you all succuss and happiness. And please be gentle with my spelling, I know it's bad  ops:

I think Rev doesn't have time to Photoshop up a picture of his truck or Scansoft a fake 1099 because he's sitting somewhere, overweight on his trailer axles, and he's trying to slide his 5th wheel to get the weight off.
I think people like him & BD hate Steve because so many other people like Steve and his posts. They're not even grown up enough to take their ball and go home to pout, they have to hang around on the sidelines and try to keep all the other kids from enjoying the game. Pathetic.

I do think you deserve additional compensation for wading through all of this. Heck, I'll even contribute a 6 pack of Oly next time I pass through Portland. I do wonder how Rev knows enough about Steve to "provide the other side of the story" It's a story. We enjoy it. Let it be. Isn't tolerance a Christian virtue?

At the beginning of SteveBooths adventures I offered advice to him many times in how to improve his dealings. I also pointed out in a positive way his mistakes... I also saw that the Rev. attempted to help early on... But, SteveBooth knew everything about this business and pointed out we did not know a thing.... So here we are today.... This business is not rocket science. Know your operating costs down to the penny, deal w/shippers instead of borkers, provide the best customer service possible, specialize in a niche, and don't haul for pennies. Be a businessman first , steering wheel holder second. Too many so called O/O's are steering wheel holders.... I will happily answer any question about my business that is posed.... But I will not post any personal identifying info either ... I also really do not care who does not like me or my responses to posts... I do not lose sleep if Moderator Runner does not like me either... :lol: |
