LOL, that's funny. I had one one outside today. I almost left, then I stood and looked at it. "Aw crap, someone from CAD will probably snap a pic and post it on the forum that I got one strap outside the rubrail". So I changed it. LOL.

Actually on the straps,..that was the guy who owned the trailer,....I switched to chains the next morning because I didn't like the straps the way they were, and it's a 100" wide trailer on top of my 96", so there was now way I could do them on the inside (at least not in my newbie opinion, I'm sure there was a way if I had more expierience).
I did put 5 chains on, with protector plates so I didn't scratch up his rusty, scratched up trailer  ,...customer is always right

I'll be in Chula Vista Cali. Friday morning, and then up to Glendale to get my new engine for the genny. I have had some interesting days,..I'll update this weekend. Hope everyone is well, and safe.

Here I sit at the Ontario TA,...34hr reset, and tommorow I finish putting my new genny engine in. I was reminded today of how much I hated driving through LA.
The engine that I took out had an oil pump failure and the crank siezed. This time there is a remoter oli pressure gauge, and the temp sensor is located on top of the cyl. head instead of the bottom.

All in all my first two runs went very well, I had my share of getting a bit lost,(damn Garmin!!), but was able to get back on my way fairly quick. One thing I noticed was how much wider I have to turn with this spread, )compared to the 53' refer I pulled before),..or maybe its the same,..and I'm nuts?? Either way I'm getting a lot better at backing and turning,...so I'm happy about that.
The truck/trailer is holding up well,...Its time like a couple of nights ago that I'm glad I put in all the stuff. I ran out of energy and the only stop was a rest area with no bathroom's outside of Las Cruses, and I was too tired to go another mile,....so I stayed there. When I came into Cali. I was able to empty my holding tank and refill with water at a rest area there,..so I'm slowly getting to handle the extra "stuff", and not worry about where I'm going to be able to maintain the systems. Propane is at many truckstops, and that makes it easy to refill my tanks.
The solar system is doing a fine job, and I have yet to run my engine during the day (as long as its sunny) to keep my batteries cahrged,...and that with the whole electrical load on the system.
I was going to head home but since I'm out here and am going to miss Christmas anyway,....I might as well stay out untill I cna't stand it anymore. I have to test the new genny engine anyway.
The wilson wireless amp power cord burned out, so I have to wait for a goog signal. They sent the new cord to my home,.....won't be there for a while!!
Hope everyone is well, and you have a safe holiday.........Dog,....gone

Glad you're doing well Doghouse. You know what's funny, when I came out with the trainer I remember being on the I10 with nothing around and being nervous but when we got to the city of LA the trainer was in the bunk I guess watching me and he said I was just driving with a smile. I always did like the city.

Definitely don't rely on the GPS, I always double check it and just use the GPS for more comfort. That is how many miles to my next turn etc.

I'll be there by lastest Monday, I'll look out for the condo on wheels
