$200 for load boards for two months? What ones are you using?
That IFTA seems very high. I just checked and I had a credit for the the last quarter of $17, are you using a fuel routing program or at least checking the fuel prices before you fuel? $300 for food is for two months. Other than that Doghouse, good job and glad to hear you are faring well (except for getting sick  )

merrick,
I am using GL ($30.00) and IT ($70.00), but I just dumped GL. There are too many doubles and IT is easier for my brain to use. The fuel thing is one thing I do need to pay closer attention to. I just started the fuel check thing a couple of weeks ago. Any sugesstions on how to stay on top of the fuel cost comparisons?? $300 for propane ($30.00) and food ($270.00) this includes medicines and stuff like that also. I don't know if you think this is too low,..or too high, buit keep in mind I only eat once a day,I cook in the truck, and all I drink is water (mostly) sometimes I'll have a juice. Rev. Cell phone $139.00 I already had a reserve of $10,000 and a maint. fund of $5,000, my tires are almost (30,000miles away) in need of replacement(drives) steers and trailer have new already. There are more things I have forgotten, but this was a short list of things I could remember. rank, I thought the numbers were OK, but I need to spend more time on runs than waiting the weekend out for a monday. So far I only drive Monday -Fri, and sit all weekend. My big days are Tues-Thurs. I have around $35,000 in the truck and trailer.

Seems like a lot of people are dumping getloaded. I still keep it for now. $70 for ITS is that with the credit check feature? I just signed up for that and I like it a lot. Plus if you factor one load a month with D&S they will pay for the credit program for that month.
$300 is great, (sorry I was clear when I wrote that), I seem to spend a lot on food. For the fuel routing, I use truckloadrate.com. It is good to have to check freight lane rates too. As an OOIDA member you pay only $24 a month. Remember it's not so much the price at the pump, but rather the price after deducting the IFTA tax (which you have to pay regardless.) I use that program but you can just check the locaton you are going to drive through. I think ITS has a link to the fuel stops. Then here you will see what each state IFTA rate is: http://www.etrucker.com/apps/promiles/fuelprices.asp I just pay the $24; it's easier for me. Basically if you stay fueling up at the Flying J you will be better off, but like I said you can't just go by the pump price but rather the net IFTA price..

I make a habit of checking fuel rates on a regular basis. Prices can vary widely, even with the same chain and state. Try checking this website www.DIESELboss.com. They post current fuel prices across the U.S. and Canada. I find them to be pretty accurate with the major chain prices. They don't list the prices for independents. You can also check the Comdata website for pricing information. I believe they have everyone who accepts their card listed.

With a little bit of effort, you can get your IFTA down to virtually nothing. I think the most I've ever had to pay in a quarter for fuel tax above and beyond the tax at the pump was about $30.
Make friends with the major truckstop chain websites. They all list up to date fuel prices.

Whether you pay at the pump or write a check at the end of the quarter, it really doesn't make any difference. The amount you pay in tax is the same regardless. For those that really want to get anal about it, the more you pay at the end of the quarter, the less it costs you

Here's a link that will help to decide which states to buy more or less fuel from. Buy fuel according to miles run in a particular state, you can buy fuel in Il. cheaper than Wi. and if you buy enough it will also offset the Wi. tax. http://www.truckmiles.com/FuelPrices.asp Example; Most folks think they're saving money by buying fuel in Ga. instead of Fl. In fact, Fl. is cheaper than Ga. when you take the tax out of the equation. |
