Ya, but it's in the frozen foods section this morning.

Hey Merrick, you'll like this. It's 6 below zero, got the Rigmaster on full plus my 1500 watt heater on full and it only got up to 57 in the truck. Had to start the truck to bring the cab up to temp.

 Might be a good thing you started up the road engine! Or..do you have tank heaters that the rigmaster can operate??

No tank heaters unless the truck is running but I have been putting fuel additive in.

I'm beginning to think that my espar heater was a much better choice,I don't need anything other than that to heat my truck and to tell you the truth I haven't been able to turn it up past low yet,you could roast thanksgiving turkey with that damn thing.plus it burns like 2 ounces of fuel per hour.

Steve I don't know if you would be interested but the Walmart trucks have the espar heaters in them along with the APU,I think because of this fact the APU just can't cut it in the winter and the APU is better suited for cooling? The Espar bunk heater is like $1,500 installed.

Frozen chains, frozen straps, salt, caked on ice and snow....Yup...winter is here.
Tell me about it. We had a driver leave a couple of weeks ago. He never did like flat bedding in the winter. Guess who gets to pick up the slack on all the short stuff?

Had a simple 200 mile delivery this AM, followed by a 25 mile DH, then a reload. Got up at 04:30 because the 3 year old has her Xmas figure skating show at 7pm. Well, as luck would have it, they got snow overnight.

Seems there is a shortage of salt and sand in our neck of the woods too. 6" of fresh and -18 degrees C and I didn't see a salt shaker until 09:30. That was too late for the p/u truck that went into the ditch backwards in front of me at 08:30. I pulled over and offered him my cell and to wait in my bunk until the tow truck showed up. 1.25 hrs gone.

Anyway....431 miles in 12 hours, but thank GOD I made it in time for figure skating.

Time for bed.

The Espar wouldn't help. In fact, the heater has less BTU output than the Rigmaster. The Espar uses about the same amount of fuel also but I have 6,000 watt generator for the same.

Many other factors effect how a heater works. The size of the cab and the amount of insulation.

Just going on technical data, it would be colder in my truck with a 9,000 BTU Espar then it would with my 12,000 BTU Rigmaster.

A bunk heater has got to be the most effective way to reduce idling in the winter. But, unless I am mistaken, the rigmaster shines in the summer.

ok I knew I should'nt have tried to make suggestions, you got it all figured out.I'm just glad I didn't spend 8k and still have to add a portable heated and start my truck to get warm. you cannot stand in front of my heater it will absoulutley burn the hair off your legs (not figuratively) but it will defintely smoke you out of the bunk.

It's just science. BTU is BTU, period.
