One of the drawbacks about stopping early. This time it was a direct bullseye. That's the outline of the fan in my window.
 Left Odessa Texas yesterday loaded up with a little less than 20,000 pounds of pipe destined for Gillette Wyoming. I'm on 235 and the road seems to go on forever. I left around 9am yesterday and stopped at the side of the road to have a can of chicken and some fruit. I lay down for a second and woke up 3 hours later!!! At first I didn't think I fell asleep until I realized I'm not a Ninja who just battled 3,000 Hun all alone then jumped off a 10,000 mountain cliff using my samurai sword as a wing to sail down to my Viking ship below running the Colorado rapids. There was one fire after another like 20 miles down the road that looked massive. As I got closer it was smaller and smaller. This went on for hours with one fire after another. I finally asked a local trucker and it's the old crops or grass that they burn after a harvest. That's why the fire was so intense but only for a short while. I stopped at the Cowboy Cafe to eat and had ribs, brisket and beans. Hot, Brown and plenty of it as was said in City Slickers. Woke up this morning and could see my breath in the air. No problem, just reach over and hit the old button. There's frost on the front of my hood too. I haven't heard a word from those Personal Dispatchers since I sent in my paper work to sign up. We'll see how they do come Thursday morning. |
