I really wouldn't get too comfortable parking at a Walmart if I were you. I once saw a movie called Walmart: The High Cost of Low Prices and it showed shocking statistics about crime in Walmart parking lots, including murder, rape, robbery, car thefts, etc. Also do a Google search and see what comes up

Keep in mind that I was doing Washington, Oregon, Idaho, and Central California. Most all the Crime that occurred where outside of the 4 states. Besides, the stores that are out here are well known by the people who deliver to them. The only store I had a problem sleeping at during the night was the Mills Plain Road Store in Vancouver Washington (West Vancouver Store). That store made me nervous!

I'd grab a shower when I fueled, and as for food, typically I eat from what I have on the truck.

I was usually rolling at night, parked during the day. Shut down in a rest stop a couple of times at night due to bad fog, was Lucky to find a space.

Fortunately, they were rather large rest areas.

Some of them here in Texas get so packed, that it gets dangerous to try to pass though them in a big truck a night!!
