Where do you park for the night?

Where do you like to park? Truck stops, on ramp, rest stops?

I'm a rest area fan myself. I can't spend money there, it has a bathroom, and are generally pretty quiet and easy to get in and out of. When my dog was still with me, it also provided a better place to let her out of the truck for a little while.

The one place you will never see my truck? On a ramp. Too unsafe, and the one time I did have to park on one, I didn't get any sleep for being paranoid that someone would hit me, or a cop would come knocking on my door.

Same with me. Rest areas are usually more available, quieter and easier for walking my dog. Everything you basically need and less hassles.

usually a truck pulloff since I spend most my time in wyoming, basically an 1/8th mile of real wide shoulder with a gaurdrail to keep other other trucks and antelope from running into ya

I typically will park at a Walmart (not because I was driving dedicated or anything) but, it is more secure, and they are pretty friendly to truck drivers parking there.

They do have a no idling rule, however, it's ignored.

I really wouldn't get too comfortable parking at a Walmart if I were you. I once saw a movie called Walmart: The High Cost of Low Prices and it showed shocking statistics about crime in Walmart parking lots, including murder, rape, robbery, car thefts, etc. Also do a Google search and see what comes up

That really doesn't surprise me. Just take a look at some of the people Walmart attracts. I'm not saying everyone who shops is a potential criminal. But lets face the truth, Walmart caters to the lower socioeconomic crowd which will also attract the criminal activity.

Generally we park at a truck stop, because we switch at one. But if I know my load is going to be late I sleep about 45 minutes from my destination, on top of Steamboat Mountain, in a little rest area/brake check. Its quieter, and so nice to wake up to a view like that rather than a dumpy truck stop. I have parked in even more remote rest stops, pretty much literally in the middle of no where, but I have almost no safetly concernes running up here, its the best thing about it.

PArk? I just set the cruise control, hop in the bunk and let the truck drive itself for 10 hours. :)
