I live down a very narrow county road and park my tractor in one of two dirt driveways on the south side of the house. Typically I drive around a two-mile block and back in from the driver-side. Today I took the truck out for a drive and tried to back into the little dirt driveway blind-side. Blind-siding into that driveway is a bit more difficult since the garbage cart is right at the corner of the driveway leaving little room for a sharp turn. On the opposite side of the road is a culvert. Well, anyway, I was backing in and had to put both steer tires into the mud on the opposite side of the road to get in. Both of them sunk all the way to the axle. I had the diff-lock turned on, but they just spun in the mud.
I hop out to see what the hell the problem is. I get back in, try rocking the mf back and forth. Nothing. I grab some flat hunks of concrete to wedge under the drives. Nothing. I get the shovel and dig out the steers. Nothing. I hook up a chain to my 4x4 pickup and have my sister gun it while I try to reverse. Nothing. The pickup just spins in the mud. I finally wind up having to call a local wrecker service. 300 bucks to pull the SOB a few feet! Damned rain! It ain't supposed to rain in Texas!
