Two figures that will be interesting to watch the 1st quarter of 2010 will be revenue versus freight.
I'll bet the majority if companies using Quaalcom and other services are going to show a significant DROP in revenue. Even if freight gains those comapnies are going to have a hard time keeping up.

Hmmmmmm....... The company tried to get me to deadhead 600 miles to a load that paid $1001 and took me straight home for Christmas. The load picks up saturday morning at 6. :hellno:
After getting a zero response from the terminal :angryblue: ....I called Central Dispatch. Now I am working the entire weekend...and instead of only turning $1001, and sitting in SC today and tomorrow.....by Tuesday I will have turned $4300, plus the fsc! :lol2: No party.......no bonus....... no extra anything...but...I might be able to pay the bills! Thank you Lord God. I actually volunteered to work over the weekend, but the boss couldn't find me any freight. My last 3 weeks have been 2 weeks w/ no sleep and no miles & 1 with too much sleep & no miles. Next week is gonna suck & I have a doctors appt. the week after that. Half my tenants can't pay their rent & I don't have the heart to start evicting during Christmas, a sentiment that I don't think my mortgage lenders understand. Still, I'm grateful just to be here & have what I do.

Well this is the first time this has happen. I been with my company going on 3 years. Last two x-mas i got 250 bucks and then 300 cash bonus. For turkey day he used to give us a turkey voucher to take to the local deli and we would get a free turkey. Didn't get that this year. Also we are not having a x-mas party. He used to throw a good X-Mas party. My GF would always pick me up cuz i would drink all the free beer i can.:smokin:
We didn't have the best year. But everyone was alittle pissed that he didn't have the balls to just come out and tell us. We understand if he didn't have they money but let us know that there will be no bonus this year. One guy has been with the company 15years and this is the 1st time they didn't give anything. I know its a BONUS and I'm not really that upset i didn't get one. I just wished he would have told us. Owell my rant is over. It can be alot worse i could be an arrow driver. Anyway everyone have a good x-mas i know i will. Keep the Bud and Rolling Rock coming.

In any case, I hope things are better the first quarter of 2010 than the first quarter of last year. I haven't received anything from the feds about it as yet. I did speak with one guy who said that he didn't think they were going to start any of this until about mid year. I think it will be best to be prepared from January 1, 2010.

I have to agree with the rest, Mackman. Hopefully you have some minimal benefits such as insurance, and a real paycheck that takes out the taxes. Some employers want you to do everything GMAN listed but pay you in full up front and 1099 you at the end of the year. Those employers are the real scumbags, not the ones that decide business was to bad for a bonus.

I just want to clear things up here. I know a BONUS is a BONUS. It is extra and is no way a guarantee pay. I get all that. What kinda bothers me is that he never came out and said anything. I'm not pissed at him it isn't that big a deal it was only 300 bucks.
I know we had a bad year in excavating so i wasn't really shocked when i didn't get one. But he did have the money to go buy a 140,000 track hoe and he told me he put about 15,000 into restoring his bronco. Oh and he took a 7 day trip out to Las Veges about 2months ago god only knows how much he dumped out there. But it is his business and his money he can do what he wants with it. Thats why he is the owner he has every right to piss all his money away if he wants. I'm happy to be working right now and to have insurance and get a real paycheck lol. I was just doing alittle venting thats all.

It sounds to me that it really bothers you that you didn't get your bonus.
The owner bought a piece of equipment that was most likely needed for the business. Most businessmen don't go out and spend a lot of money on equipment unless it is really needed. That could be a way for him to sustain his business. You resent that he went on a vacation and spent money on restoring his Bronco. I am sure that he doesn't resent how you spend your money. I would be resentful or upset if his checks bounced. I assume that wasn't the case since you are still working. He is entitled to have a life. He is entitled to spend his money in any manner he wishes. He paid you the wages that were agreed. You still have a job in a down economy. Thousands of people have lost their jobs, you still have a job and are still so unhappy that you start a thread to trash your boss. If you are that unhappy why don't you put your money up and start your own business. That way you can be the guy who goes on a vacation or repairs his Bronco. If your boss closes the doors tomorrow all you lose is a job. He will likely lose everything. Whatever happened to being thankful for what you have?

Whine whine whine. First of all your boss pays himself just like he pays you. His pay is completely separate from the company money. IE he works for himself so his payroll dept makes out a check for him also just like you!! If he has the money to play with his bronco then yeehaw He knows how to budget and play with his toys and get his bills paid also. Maybe that should be a lesson!!!!!

Good points, Pack_Rat. What some don't realize is that many companies base their bonuses on corporate profits. They share a percentage of profits to be paid to employees. If there are no profits then there is nothing to share. |
